hi, im still not really good in reverbs and need to learn them much better to know what reverb is good and to compare them better.

i dont like izotope so much and also that exponential audio is owned by them and also having issues with R4 lately i try to stay away from them even more now, sad, cause i like them normally, many presets etc.

so i ask you guys who have better knowledge are these Revrbs unique or replacable easily?

izotopes support so far never got back in the past to me, oh wait, yeh only once but then they were silent again and their products are mostly trashed after a short time...

I wouldn´t consider them unique in any way...
Quality wise (as you mentioned it in the title) the Valhalla plugins are at least on the same level and are really gems at their price!

Even the free Oril River is at a quality level where most of the time it would be already a good replacement for them

thx a lot, i got all Valhalla Products as they are so far very stable, always working and to my ears great sounding. i just didn compare them with R2,R4 yet. but with these issues i really loose nerves with the shitty support of companies (izotope) etc.

Taste is really personally.. There is no way I would consider Valhalla Reverbs on the same level as EA's... None...Zero...

But EA's Reverbs I doubt will ever be developed further.
The only ones that I found that were quality enough to replace them was liquidsonics/reverbfoundry stuff.

That´s true...

For me it´s the exact opposite...
For me EA´s stuff sounds so boring that for me nearly every freeware reverb offers a similar sound without investing a dime...

I think Exponential Audio is a level higher than Valhalla in terms of sound quality. All the Valhalla reverbs are kind of exaggerated in what they do as well. Vintage Verb is super dirty/artefact-y, Room is extra clean. Very overrated plugins, especially on this forum.

There, you asked for opinions.

Thanks :).

But I guess it depends how you judge a reverb.

For me a great reverb must be felt more than heard....It must make the source sound like it is part of that environment.. that you are hearing it in that environment...like adding the right amount of salt to a meal...it enhances the meal, if it was not there you would notice it.... but it doesn't become the flavour.

Of course there are times when you want the reverb to be the sound....and for those cases I don't think EA's are the best choice.

I couldn't agree more. Especially the Eventide reverbs feel like part of the sound. Many software reverbs sound detached.

I would take a testdrive with Relab Sonsig or NI Raum. Both quite impressing.

Why does it have to be one vs the other? Valhalla makes great reverbs that also happen to be a great value. EA makes great reverbs that can also be had for a great value. I use both, and often in the same mix. :o

i wanna use R4 of course on, but the issue atm which is not solved makes me worried + that it is managed by izotope a really bad customer support company.

That's a great analogy, I'm remembering that one. 😊

I've not tried the Exponential Audio reverbs, but I can say that (for me) Valhalla mostly excels at creative/musical sounding spaces. So, atm I really like the IKM Sunset/Fame reverbs for small drum room spaces, then I use Valhalla Room or Vintage for my tempo synced (usually 1/2 to 1 bar) spaces, then fabfilter reverb for the huge 10 sec+ spaces. I have a variety of plates for snares and spring reverbs for that dub sound I like for the rest. Valhalla are really good at interesting and exciting spaces, and that will work better or worse depending on what type of music you make and the sound you are striving for. So, it's hard to say better or worse as they work better or worse in different scenarios.

EA reverbs are fantastic at what they do, Phoenix/Nimbus is fantastic at real small spaces, really transparent. However, the big problem with them is Izotope. True to form no updates from them since they bought the company and if their past record is anything to go by (Breaktweaker, Iris, etc) there won't be any.
