Arturia V Collection 9. Predictions?

V Collection is all about recreations of vintage stuff, augmented a bit (usually). I wouldn't expect a bran new hybrid anything as part of V Collection. Doesn't mean they won't do that separately from V Collection though.

^^ and on the Arturia site it says Augmented Strings is "Part of the Augmented Series,".

On the other hand the Prophet VS definitely seems to be missing some bite that the original had, which is odd considering it is digital.

Actually the Prophet VS is a hybrid digital/analog synth.

Even though I like the current V, I'd really like to see Arturia to split the Prophet 5 & VS into separate plugins.

I would not be surprised if they release Augmented Series instruments, which is clearly a new/different collection, ahead of V Collection 9 next month.

TBH it still baffles me why they combined these two entirely independent and totally different synthesizers in one plugin...

Good thing they at least didn't do it with the Juno and the Jupiter, nor with with the Matrix and the SEM, the Moog Mini and the Modular or the CS-80 and the DX7 *phew*

Maybe to differentiate it from NI's Pro 5 which was a big thing when Arturia's was introduced. Hard to believe now, since NI killed it off years ago...but it was THE go to Prophet 5 emulation. And the only one (then), of course.

I think it has been suggested already. Also, I think that one of the only Fizmo type of plugins that’s out there is a sampled version by UVI.

Theremin

It would be cool if whoever made a good theremin plugin also made a good, but reasonably priced midi controller to go along with it, kind of like what Roland has with their D-beam stuff.

In my opinion, the Theremin experience and sound is not just the sound that it makes, but how that sound gets made with a person's hand movements.

A controller like that seems to be a pretty simple and cheap thing for a company to make if they wanted to, and they could make one and sell it for a reasonable price too.

Great! Looks like the V Collection 9 release will be on May 10, as per a teaser I saw on Facebook.

I saw someone requesting Prophet plugins to be split in two separate ones. Their wish is granted.

Interesting, I see that they've now split up their Prophets and made them into two separate plugins. I agree with that decision.

I'm not crazy about them doing Korg stuff, since I have the full Korg collection, but I look forward to checking out the V collection 9 when it drops.

I also have the SQ80, so hopefully the upgrade price is reasonable.

I haven't checked out the Augmented stuff, so don't have any opinion on those.

if they manage to improve the cs80 sonically and gui-wise, that'll be very interesting.

i'm also rather curious about augmented voices, the strings were pretty good.

More re-hashes than new stuff, the only new thing is the MS-20 and, well.....plenty of options for that, already. this really lacks any 'not emulated before' content, many options of which have already been named in this thread.

THAT said, if the CS-80 and VS 'updates' are as solid as the Jupiter update was in 8, this will likely actually be worth it.....

I would like an alpha juno ...

Just curious, have you tried ReDominator from AudioRealism? It's an Alpha Juno emulation and frankly it's very hard to imagine Arturia making something better than that, unless you're buying Arturia plugins specifically for the hidden-panel bells & whistles.

Yeah I even got a Dtronics DT300 hooked to it via dedicated midirouting
But it is a bit old and I would image 2022 style modelling would be better and also preset management is a bit meh. The filterupdate it got was welcome, but still a bit nasty/harsh in the upper reso-area to my ears. I had a MKS50 and Alphas IRL in the past
