But EA's Reverbs I doubt will ever be developed further.
The only ones that I found that were quality enough to replace them was liquidsonics/reverbfoundry stuff.

Which liquidsonics plugin would you use as a replacement for Phoenix? For me that is is the EA reverb that is really unique in how clear and uncolored it is, and none of the Valhalla plugins come close imho, (doesn’t mean they’re not usable).
The EA plugins are running fine so far, but I usually don’t like using abandonware.
I already have 7th heaven and Tai chi lite, great, but very different from Phoenix. Acon Verberate actually comes close, but uses more CPU.

However, the big problem with them is Izotope. True to form no updates from them since they bought the company and if their past record is anything to go by (Breaktweaker, Iris, etc) there won't be any.
Have to agree with this. It's sad to see these great plugins die a slow death.

Freeware does not offer what Exponential Audio’s reverbs offered. What you call ‘boring’ is actually ‘natural’ and ‘transparent’. They don’t sound like they’re doing anything, until you hit bypass.

This - and sadly what they hived off into Neoverb is pretty boring and lifeless, but the EA reverbs are not

:)... Taste differing again.
I only bought Excalibur to 'support' Michael C... I still do not like the sound of it at all... he had planned to do major work on it, that alas never happened.

Hi,... it is one you don't have :).
Cinematic Rooms.. I would however strongly advise you not to try it till October/November (they go on Black Friday sale.. the only sale for the year)... Nimbus was my go to until I heard this and bought this..(I bought the Pro, but if you not going to do Film and or surround... the regular one is fine).

Love Excalibur. The modulated delays sound fantastic.

It"s hard to go past Valhalla IMO. Reverb is always a personal taste thing, but I very much compare Valhalla with Lexicon in terms of character, and I always liked Lexicons. It's obviously what Valhalla were aiming at. My old Lexicon Alex is half dead now and I'm more than happy that Valhalla has replaced it and then some. It's replaced many of my IR reverbs too. They're not necessarily the most natural sounding reverbs but to me they have character without taking over the sound and can be pushed very high into a mix without metallizing or ruining it - unlike many other reverbs. With things like ambience verb, TBH I find many plugins can do that easily and you don't have to worry so much about which one you use, but with larger spaces the character starts to play out.

In terms of h/w it used to be pretty well Lexicon/Eventide/TC for mere mortals if you wanted good reverb. I reckon Valhalla is equivalent Lexicon in s/w (didn't Lexicon pull out of the plugin market?). Eventide is...errr Eventide. EA and a couple of others are TC, which is good but very much not in yer face. Valhalla is in yer face like Lexicon. I personally never got on with TC reverbs (personal taste again) they were good but just not my cuppa verb tea (see what I did there? :hyper: ), which is why I also didn't go for some of the other plugin reverbs. I always found them a bit weak and characterless. possibly more realistic than Lexicon but just...weak. So don't worry that valhalla doesn't give you quality reverb - it does.

Personally I never liked the Exponential reverbs, far too boring and the reverb time is limited (far too short for my liking). Much preferred Lexicon PCM and Valhalla Vintage Verb.

Some people think the "Color" parameter is there to change the GUI color.
Room is extra clean.
Yes, the four original algorithms are quite clean - the subsequent ones - not so much. There's is certainly nothing "extra cleaan" about Narcissus, Nostromo, Sulaco and LV-426. That's just absurd.

Very overrated plugins, especially on this forum.
We just ..uhm... like - you see... really know them. That's what is called an "informed opinion" - unlike yours, obviously.

Or "followed" opinion. "Just because everybody else too"

I don't have the Lexicons, but I don' t like the EA verbs much either.

I see. If I don't agree with you, my opinion is uninformed.

Makes sense. Yes, definitely.
