Hello -

We've released a major Duck update. The update is free if you are an existing Duck user, and not very expensive if you aren't.

Duck is our volume automation tool with LFO, audio, midi and audio-input triggering. It excels at side-chain style ducking but with the audio input triggering is awesome at high-precision gating of one-shots as well.

Get the update or buy a copy: https://deviousmachines.com/duck

What's new?

Version 1.3 has groups which links instances of Duck together so they share a curve shape. Something I've wanted for a long time as I end up using Duck on every other channel in my session. Now I can find tune all of them at once which is pretty awesome.

The update also includes, midi note input filtering to help when triggering using MIDI. It's important when you've got all your drums on one MIDI track. And finally, solo buttons for the crossover bands.

Oh - and I almost forgot - you can now copy and paste shapes between instances.

In case you missed the previous update it's also got a really handy lookahead feature so you can get glitch free ducking when you are using any of the non-LFO trigger modes. (The LFO doesn't need lookahead as the smoothing comes in early automatically so your audio is ducked by the time the beat hits).

Any questions? Fire away!

Nice update, thanks :)

As a Duck license owner, I thank you.

I actually bought a new competitor plugin yesterday, which has a 'freeze' function that I couldn't figure out if or how to do in Duck....

Thanks,
rsp

edit: turns out you can do the same 'freeze' function in Duck, though I prefer the workflow of it in that other one.. my bad.

Longtime Duck user. I found that it's the simplest pumper that plays nice with Logic while still retaining deep options when needed. Love it!

Best one available and thanks for implementing the solo buttons as I requested :)

I don't know why we didn't put lookahead in the first ever version it's so useful :)

That's hilarious!

Any info on when/if DM will implement an overlay display option in the oscilloscope so we can how well the respective Trigger and Sidechained content are actually lining up? I absolutely love Duck, doubt I will ever go back to any other method for Ducking/Sidechaining...but I am definitely a little baffled this particular display option wasn't available from the start. I can't imagine it would be very difficult to implement given that both waveform displays are currently available to the plugin...just not at the same time, for now at least.

The overlay display option is now in the v1.3.4 beta which you can download from our site.

I think we will add some options to turn it on and off though before the final release, as if you've got quite noisy signals having them overlayed can be a bit overwhelming. Looks great for kicks and other simple trigger sources though!
