Seems like an interesting update. I have the original Drumbrute and absolutely love the sequencer and performance controls, while the Kicks and Snares could've benefited from some out of the box punch. The original needs a bit of processing to really get some punch into things, which it seems they tried to address here. That said, it does look like there's less control over the individual sounds in this version. At $349 though, I bet it'll be worth it.
I'm tempted, just don't have space. Anyone make a good 2-tier stand for drum machines?

Go look at laptop stands intended for DJ use- I’ve got my vermona drm III under my pioneer sp-16 in this manner and it works quite well.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Seems like an interesting update. I preordered it from Sweetwater ($299). I like the sound a lot more than the original Drumbrute, and they kept everything I liked about the sequencer. This feels to me like it has the potential to be a modern classic like the 808. I’m still not 100% sure I’ll keep it, as I do have plenty of other ways to get similar sounds, and the sound shaping parameters are somewhat limited. But for a grab-it-and-jam drum box, this looks to be one of the better ones.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

I just bought one on Tuesday and I love it. It's like a modernised 606. Sounds great, has its own vibe, and is very easy to use.

Anyone here own both the original Drumbrute and an Impact? Just curious if you think they’re redundant or complementary because I keep seeing cheap prices on the original, but I already have an Impact. From the reviews I’ve seen, it seems that the Impact has the better kick and possibly snares, but some of the other sounds seem better (or at least have much more range) in the OG. Thoughts?

Yeah, I'm finding that I'm not all that enamored with the OG sound, either, after watching more youtube vids. Morevover, the Elektron Syntakt announcement pretty much eliminated the OG Drumbrute from my consideration anyway.rich_h wrote: Thu Apr 21, 2022 4:52 pm For what it's worth, I had the original DrumBrute but sold it after about 3 months as I didn't care much for its sound. I've had the Impact for nearly three years now.

I have both the OG and the Impact... they overlap a lot.
I rarely use them nowadays, I usually work with the TR-8S or with a sampler ITB.
Unless you really love the Drumbrute sound, I think it's best to add something else and have a wider palette. Nowadays, I wouldn't buy both (I'm not in need to sell them so I keep both of them, but they are not essential items in my setup). By the way, I recently modded my Drumbrute OG following the instructions posted by Maffez on another forum and the first kick is better now.

Can you link that DBI kick mod please?

It’s for the Original Drumbrute, not for the Impact, but I guess there are similarities in the Impact, so the mods can be “reworked” for that model, too.
I applied only some of those mods to my OG (clean hi hat and mods to kick 1 sweep/click/drive) though.

Cheers. Main problem with the DBI is the oft discussed kick drum sounding muffled sometimes. Apparently it's "normal", but it makes that sound unusable for me. Wish there was a mod to fix it.

As I understand the engine is re-designed? If so then I really hope that I like the sound of it. I had the Impact for a while and I never really gelled with the sound. The hats were were my favourite, kick was ok. But all the other sounds were not my cup of tea. It really has a sound that you either like or not. I didn't. But it's very hands on and intuitive, workflow wise I really liked it. Fingers crossed.

I don't think it is, since the description says "The same powerful 10-voice analog drum machine, reimagined in an iconic off-white finish." Sounds like it's the same machine with a fancy new paintjob (which I sorta like, tbh!). I owned an Impact for a while and I thought it sounded pretty good within a pretty narrow range of sounds and I really liked the workflow. I never owned the OG Drumbrute, but liked the sound of that as well and I always wished Arturia would combine the best of both worlds into an even better version.
