Funny, I've been really considering updating mine to a GX-100.

I've been on the fence about selling my amps and instead getting an AxeFx. The only thing that's holding me back is repeating history. When Line6 was the bee's knees for modeling I went digital only to spend more time tweaking and programming patches rather than playing and recording. Even the patches I created were secretly attempts to get the same sound of the amps I was using prior to Line6.

My biggest hurdle is will I follow the same path? Even if I do, that might not be the worst thing since I'd free up space by getting rid of 3 Mesa heads and 2 Mesa cabinets. The struggle has been real.

Which Mesa heads do you have?

Downsizing, it crosses my mind. In search of the perfect tone through amps is difficult, where Kemper and Axe FX are ready to go, mix ready.

I would have to keep at least one amp, digital amps are close, I'd run the modeller through a tube amp's return into a load box.

Downsizing and consolidating. I'm getting shut of a LP-Style and Strat copy, trying to cover these 2 with an existing Super Strat HSS. Maybe a PAF type and 2 vintage style single coils.

I've got a Mesa Dual Rectifier (Racto, Recto, or whatever they were named as), Single Rectifier and a Mark V (90 watt). I considered selling both and getting a Reborn Rectifier but then I'm back to square one. For recording, I run through a Two Notes Torpedo Live with Ownhammer IRs.

Getting away from a Rectifier is nearly impossible for me. I've owned 3 or 4 over the years and always circle back to buying one.

Downsizing my assortment of guitars was pretty easy. Downsizing amps was tough once I got down to the Mesa's. They've been my work horses and go-to for tone. I'm not playing out anymore, at least not currently, and wouldn't mind freeing up space that three heads, 4x12 Mesa cab and 2x12 Mesa cab take up.

I do like your idea of maybe keeping one head and still pick up an AxeFx, although I'm not concerned about running the AxeFx through the Mesa. The AxeFx would strictly be for recording.

Good luck with your guitar decision. It's tough to decide between those two styles since there's a number of factors at play. The Super Strat with HSS config will be your best compromise. I've never been a fan of LP necks so you'd be gaining a point with a Strat neck.

Buying nothing, I wouldn't mind a picking up a used neck and middle Roswell STA single coil for an HSS.

I've seen a Peavey Valveking VK100 MKI Guitar Amplifier Head £139 Cash Converters S70 2RJ
A good deal for someone, I wouldn't like to know what the seller got for it.

The Peavey Windsor is supposed to be a good platform for modding. It’s basically a Marshall, just with some dumb Peavey things added that can be taken out pretty easily.

Peavey Classic 50’s sell for way too cheap. That’s the amp Stone Gossard played in the early years of Pearl Jam.

What are the "dumb Peavey things"?

It has an extra gain stage and is unable to be biased properly (too cold, presumably done to extend tube life). Pretty simple things to fix that would make it very similar to a JCM800.

The Classic 50 and Classic 30 are more comparable to Fender.
