checked your Soundcloud profile ... a few plugins that you should ckeck out, if you like glued and pumping beats:
yeah I tend not to release on soundcloud anymore. All my recent music is on hearthis.at because it makes soundcloud look victorian..........or via my albums on bandcamp

Nova GE
yeah got those, but got much better plugins. Nova has visual lag when I sidechain. TD told me they know it's an issue but don't know how to fix it, so I don't use it

No thanks. I want dynamic range, not a brick waveform

Sausage Fattener has dials, not just an on/off-Button :) My recommendations were based on a few random clicks on your soundcloud site. I just tried to pass some experiences. If you want "glue and beef", as you said, you should listen to Jon Hopkins. Some of his tracks are the epitome of glue and beef ("collider", "open eye signal"). He uses extreme compression and extreme sidechainig as a stylistic element in some of his tracks.

As i said, two compressors in a row, upward/downward compression, FET style compression and bit of distortion (it dont have to be Sausage Fattener ;) ) are good recommendations for glue and beef.

And why do you care about a visual input lag? I also have a small lag in the sidechain mode of Nova GE (very short). You could use SPAN on the trigger channel for realtime feedback, if it bothers you.

Lemme give you a little advice (as I've seen too many video clips showcasing the plug in the WRONG way) :

The correct workflow with SF is a little misleading (or rather : VERY misleading, as so many seem to operate it the wrong way). It goes like that :

To start off, there's a little knob called GAIN.

it is NOT an output gain but INPUT gain (they should've denote it. strangely, the didn't. and as there isn't an "official" output gain, many assume - wrongly - that this is an output gain... which, of course, it's NOT)

you twiddle with it until the light next to it flickers with strong, full, green color (with emphasis on : FLICKERS... and FULL STRONG GREEN). when it FLICKERS with full green light (not just faint green) you've reached the correct gain staging into the plug (when you are beginning to see red, you've passed the border to no-man's-land ie. ugly distortion or simply brick-like sausage).
then, set the color knob (it introduces some sort of parallel filtering effect. As you turn it to the right, different areas of the mid-range are boosted, making the audio more "forward")
then, set the FATNESS (how dense is your audio - a combination of compression and distortion).

If you follow these instructions, you can get very broad dynamic results (very dynamic or shoe-box waveform) :tu:

EDIT: Ahh, forget it. Better to be nicer anyway.

For Glue ! Good question.

Well I've always used the SSL Bus Compressor for glue, it does seem to do that well. Gets a lot of use on group channels in Cubase for that exact reason.

But one thing i've been doing more of recently is multi band compression on the stereo bus, and i've had some really good results with it.
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

Just bumping this because it's an interesting thread. The SSL buss compressor is on sale for for $50. Is it worth it?

Yeah, absolutely! I got the UAD SSL and prefer the "original" SSL Emulation by far. Just sounds less clicky and peaky, compared to the UAD version. It uses quite some CPU when used in 4x oversampling, but soundwise it's great.

Are you referring to this sale?

Channel Strip 2 and Bus Compressor 2 - for £37? That's an absolute bargain.
