I’m considering updating from Win10 1607 to Win10 2182. My custom built DAW computer Win10 Pro was built the end of 2015 by Purrrfect Audio. Due to an extremely slow internet connection I switched to a “metered” connection at the time and haven’t updated since. As I understand it, I can download an iso file from Microsoft for this, thus avoiding any internet interruptions or failures.
Since it would be virtually impossible to reinstall programs which are now way too large to download (a 3GB file takes me at least 12 hours, assuming a stable internet connection) my only option would be to update this computer. My main programs/software are Cubase, Wavelab, Maschine, Komplete Ulimate, Arturia V, various Spitfire plugins, Waves, Soniccouture, East/West and others.
Has anyone updated from such an old version successfully without having to reinstall programs? What are the precautions I should consider? I assume there will be driver updates to consider. I just don’t want to be stuck having to download/ reinstall any impractically large files.
If I do proceed with the update I assume if something goes wrong, I can recover with a rescue disc mirror image file. True?
