I have already had answers to complete my Virus Ti2.

But here I have to make a choice for a machine.

Apart from the Subsequent 37.

Whether analog or digital, in relation to my musical style (Melodic Techno and Trance Uplifting), which machine?

I was captivated by the Polybrute, but already expressed about it and to my greatest regret, I prefer to switch to another machine.

If a desktop version existed, there maybe...

A complicated choice for me, because so many choices and not want as already been the case bought a machine and regret it a month later.

I thought of the Nord lead a1, but maybe something much better?

Here the choice to buy a single machine.

Don't listen to others if you're about to shell out hundreds, or thousands of Euros. Go to a store, and play the instruments, and choose based on your preferences.

It already sucks to buy a 100 € soft synth based on others opinions. I can't imagine how pissed off I would be if the thousand € hardware I just bought isn't to my liking...

everyone will give you a different advice.
and all of them will be right (unless they intentionally give you silly advices)

almost everything can sound great.
of course some will give you slightly (or even obviously) different results, but in the end, it almost doesn't matter at all what you use.
the most important factor is that you are happy with that device (be it hard- or software) - in the way they're working and sounding.
and there, everyone is different.
what works best for me, might be meh for you and vice versa

in the end, only you can decide.
otherwise everyone would be using Ableton (or now maybe Bitwig too), Serum, Spire, Diva and hardware wise: elektron units - preferably the Monomachine

The GAS is always greener on the other side!

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately not really possible to try.

I have music stores close to my house, however, not a huge choice of synthesizers and especially not those that could suit me.

For example no Sequential, Oberheim for example.

Here apart from the Polybrute, I was able to try the Matrixbrute, Argon 8, Cobalt 8, the Jupiter 8 and the System 8, nothing else, even if already not bad perhaps, but nothing really transported me except the Polybrute , but already explained why I'm missing out.

I have an armada of vst, but I miss the hardware.

I miss this physical, emotional side of hardware.

I would suggest to listen to a lot of Youtube sound demos then. IMO, you can get a pretty good (sonic) picture by doing so.

Post

to some extent i agree, but what you are mostly hearing is great talent/experience, vs not as much talent/experience, or at least time spent making the sounds.
and of course different tastes or genres

Yes, but YouTube as said, very often people with experience and who very often will make the machine sound like no one, therefore, YouTube not always, really the right choice, because risk of disappointment in the end.

Nothing like everyone's experience, the reason for my post, giving me your experience, your experience, your feelings about machines and which one could complete my Virus Ti2 in relation to my musical style.

What is the difference to someone playing the synth on Youtube? Actually, asking for experiences is much worse, as you won't even hear the synth, nor know what the person stating his experiences likes or likes not, or how much experience or skills he has in general.

Well... if you think asking a lot of questions, and creating a lot of topics is the way, so be it. I wouldn't touch all that with a ten foot pole. I know that asking for experiences and opinions never lead me to stuff I like. Actually, in most cases, the opposite was the case.

Post

BTW, what's the better music, Death Metal or Techno?

:ud:

I'm just saying that YouTube can have a positive counter-effect.

Asking for advice, yes, maybe opinions that the person may never have touched the instrument, but I still believe that a certain trust must exist otherwise a music forum is useless.

I take the different opinions and I get an overall idea.

I worked like that at one point, basing myself on my feelings before buying and often screwed up, because I hadn't thought of the essentials.

The influence of YouTube, others not always better than some sellers.

So, the why of my many posts to get an overall opinion.

Post

Here nothing to do with a musical style, just an opinion on a complementary machine.

Post

So, which sound do you prefer? Sequential, Moog, Oberheim, Korg, Roland? Access Music, Clavia?

Frankly, I would never get something just for features.

This

Really, it's a bad idea

If you can't try it, don't buy it, simple as that.

Thank you for your answers.

My preferences, Sequential because generally good gear, very expensive but good.

ti2 virus I have one.

Nord lead a1 I like the Nord Wave 2 as well.

I like Roland and Korg but I preferred before, JP 8080, V Synth, for Korg, Radias, 01 / Wfd for example.

Now regarding the Prophet 5 for example the vst version of u he is excellent.

If I don't know how to try, I won't buy hardware.

People are not going to buy anything then, because few people have a store where everything is or a maximum of machines, except maybe people living in a big city and again..

A bit strange answer.

Post

Hey... it's your money. ;)

If you think it's strange to suggest to make sure that you will like what you buy for a lot of money... whatever.

Maybe you don't have an opinion, and ask for one, so you can decide.
