Come on TristezaOrange. This is your fight. Tell Robbie personally how you really feel.
Well?

I liked his contribution to "My Culture" by 1 Giant Leap. Never was really into Sinatra or the other rat pack singers, and haven't heard any of his other stuff... so I guess I'll just shut up now and go to bed.

Let me start by saying that I don't like Robbie Williams. I would however say that his cover of Mack The Knife was a shitload better than the Westlife version I had to sit through at some stage last night. I quite enjoyed watching Swing When Your Winning but I would still gladly run him over with a big truck.

Personally I like most of the RW stuff but his attempts on the big band stuff. Seen that live (on video that is) and wasn't impressed at all. He misses something in both the timbre and the attitude of the great big band crooners (even Dean Martin did better).
For the rest of the stuff, I think he's partially found a great combination of composers and arrangers to work for or with him. There's albums with both rock and electronic stuff on them and not a few people would manage to put it all in some single, yet pretty much organic sounding album.
There might be better singers around, but he's good enough and IMO the package of briliant productions, good singing and great live entertainment is tough to beat.
Apart from that, he's got the most kickass live band.
All strictly IMO of course.

LOOOL that says it all, you're talking to a small community and you can't post anything without bitter, and you're talking about a guy who gets hassled to answer to thousand of questions (even though he's not in the mood at this choosen time) . Man, good that you're on iuma, or some folks would post here about your attitude.TristezaOrange wrote: Erm, yeah, that's exactly what I wrote in my postobviously in some obscure mid-Atlantic dialect only understood by sparrows, Italians who were brought up in germany and you.

If you read some of the shite that's being crapped over great artists here on kvr you get the impression that the music-cafe actually must contain the collected wisdom of composition, contrapunction, arranging, virtuosity and art in particular and of the universe in general.

Hmm, let's see, personal attacks, incomprehensible writing [does anyone get what this guy means?] AND to top it all off starts post with a huge LOL and ends it with 'over and out'. And i'm still taking this bullshit.RNJ wrote:LOOOL that says it all, you're talking to a small community and you can't post anything without bitter, and you're talking about a guy who gets hassled to answer to thousand of questions (even though he's not in the mood at this choosen time) . Oh, and let me say how it amazes me that you still get that: 'if you can't do better, you're not allowed to express your opinion' here in KvR.
But to defuse things just let me say that I woke up this morning with an overpowering urge to shag RW and buy all his albums. Hallelujah.

Irony, sarcasm, maybe. Bitterness? Here's you again using the trollesque 'argument' of jealousy.
Oh well, over and out I guess.
