BONES ...Imagine what might be achieved if our modern software engineering geniuses put all their effort into something new and amazing, instead of trying to slavishly reproduce XXshitxx stuff from 40-50 years ago?

I would be stoked! There's a few interesting new things but i would be happy to see this become a trend. I've nothing against emulations (although i rarely use them...) but the fact that emulations have crowded out actual innovation to a large extent (because they sell) really sucks.

IMO we would have had Zebra 3 years ago but U-he felt the need to make some high selling emulations. Same with most developers that are trying to stay afloat doing VSTs as their primary source of income. Fortunately there is still some innovation in VST land.

theyre similar settings on different synths, with a few extra things to make the software sound closer to the real analog sound, i thought otherwise it was too easy
there are a few different threads about this same thing atm so i think its relevant to them and people keep talking about blind tests
im flattered that you cant tell as i must have done a good job trying to emulate the analog one but to me one sounds more digital and theyre obviously not the exact same sound

Or maybe it's the device I'm listening on. Maybe it's all the various kinds of devices people listen on with various shaped speakers with gad knows which kind of Maxi Bass Booster feature,streaming or maybe listening to an mp3 or waiting for it to be pressed on vinyl because that's supposed to some holy grail of listening pleasure now, that all kind of render these analog vs software arguments moot except for producers running blind tests in their forum of choice
