Hi everyone! I'm a new member and lurk on VIC mostly! I like to look at the buying and selling section a lot but realized I need to post to talk to people. I noticed that going through the forum, there's a lot of companies but are there any "general" section outside of companies where people talk about music? Where do people usually talk to each other on?

Companies are listed below the generic ones. You can customize that list. Then use "latest posts":
latest-posts/index.php?mode=mylt

Have you already seen the music cafe?

You can save the effort for searching the forum by asking questions like "what is the best..." or "how can I?". Some of the crazy guys around will immediately jump on you!

Hahaha! Thanks guys! I really appreciate the info and links! Yeah, I feel like a turtle when I'm trying to navigate through this new forum but surely I will get the hang of it after a bit! I don't seem to be getting any notifications about you guys commenting though. Being a noob sucks! Haha

For a notification either the responder needs to quote you (like I did now) or you have to subscribe like this:
