Aliaisng is pretty bad and upsampling doesn't do much to address it. Boosting and even engaging more bands adds an unavoidable amount of quantisation distortion for me(working with very little dynamic range and regularly incorporating things like uwpards comp)it sounds pretty nasty under those conditions. Only 6quid so i aint complaining, but i don't think i'll be using this. can't really hear what the smooth knob does either. Seems to just attenuate the the top two bands and maybe change their Q? I wont speak to any certainties as i only tried the plugin out for 10-15mins

Aliasing or not to my ears it sounds good. And I have pretty good hearing. As a test here is a track mastered with it. Normally this would just be a test but I liked how it sounded on the master so I rendered it in.
If you can hear aliasing please let me know what it sounds like so I can try and hear it. I have "warm" enabled on the bands used so it should be aliasing.

Does look like a regular, compensated digital equalizer curve to me at first glance…

I know all my audio mentors made idiotic home alone faces in their vids...
Oh wait.... they were actually too busy working.
At least try raising the bar. Don't cater to the lowest common denominator.

I know that an LTI processor cannot produce aliasing so i thought it was pretty obvious i was talking about engaging whatever engages the nonlinear part of the plugin. I wasn't claiming the plugin produced aliasing the minute you slap it on, but doesn't change the fact it still produces aliasing and a considerable amount of it even with conservative boosts or cuts when you turn on the "warm" buttonFrankie.T wrote: Wed Apr 27, 2022 4:11 pmTIMT wrote: Wed Apr 27, 2022 11:02 am Aliaisng is pretty bad and upsampling doesn't do much to address it. Then the smooth knob is a bit of a gimmick isn't it cause there is already a Q switch and there is nothing particularly novel about that function and the marketing slightly implies it does something unique with the high end. I don't really see what's useful about a macro that just undoes a bit of the boost you made with a high shelf and changes the Q a to be a bit broader. Would of likely already made those decisions myself when i was dialing in the EQ
The AGC is cool and i like the general tone of the EQ without the warm engaged, but its not very usable for me under the conditions i mentioned and i mostly bought this on a whim because of the nonlinearities per band thing like the active EQ's and cheap desk EQ's i have in the studio. I think i pointed out before that it's an often overlooked element of analog modelled EQ's ITB that i would like to see modelled more
6quid though, nothing to complain about really and not exactly a dent in the pockets even if i never happen to use the thing on anything

The point is. Making certain kind of contents require a lot of time and effort. I don't earn a cent from what i do, i do it because of passion, because i like to share with people what i do. So the reward is to people watch your content, be interested in that and share thoughts, believe me, a bad vs good thumbnail can bring even 400% more viewer.TBlake wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 5:30 am I know all my audio mentors made idiotic home alone faces in their vids...

I've made certain video with very specific topics, that are low on interest, but i feel they were important to show to my viewer (they are few, i have a very small channel) anyway i care about them, cause i know some of them follow me to learn more about mixing and mastering. So i've made those videos even if i knew it to have very few views and just from them.
This is fine for me because i really care of people, anyway i can say, to make each of those videos, i've litterally spent an entire day (multiply them for a lot of videos) just to see them watched by few people, this is very frustrating. Is like to make a song with all your feelings you want to share with others, spend time, resources make some trade off with your real life to achieve a good results, releasing it and no one care about it, it's hard to keep going.
So i started spend time to research why and how to change it, and one of the issues where the thumbnails.
Certain kind of content take few view regardles, but at least other content that have more interest can gather more the attention from people.
I would like to be "more free" but you have to follow the rules. If you take a look at bigger channels with millions of subs, they still make those thumbails, for a reason.
At the end it's just an image, there are other stuff i could make to have better analytics, but those would change the way i like to do my content, and i don't want it, so in that case i prefer to be myself, but we are talking about the important part of the video, the core, not about a "cover"

Yes the "analog" part of an eq is something i like too, anyway i still find this eq to sound well even without the warm enabled, not a fan of the higher part of the spectrum, but the curves on the low end and the mid to me sound good as other most expensive eq.
Ofc there are better options out there, anyway i still use different eq of these better options to work on different part of spectrum.
That's the beauty of the EQ's imo, you never really know wich one can perform better on a certain sound, anyway when you work, you cannot try them all it's a waste of time, and an easy way to burn your ears, so at a certain point we have to pick our bests for certain duties, at least that's what i do

I personally don't even think about the thumbnails - I enjoy the White Sea Studio reviews, which almost always include such-described thumbnails. I simply appreciate people putting in the effort to record and upload these things. Keep it up.Frankie.T wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 6:48 amThe point is. It's a matter of what you focus on. I keep my mind in information they give.
Both Dan Worrall and Gregory Scott (Kush audio) do those clickbaity stuff. Question is, so what? It doesnt make them less valuable source of knowledge.
