Logic vs. A cup of tea

I could have sworn when the English and Aussies use the word "tea", they are referring to the main meal of the day, at 6:00pm or so.

Eg. "What did you have for tea?" -- "Oh, a fine cornish hen and some garlic roast potatoes!"

that's correct.

the tea as a drink is generally referred to as "a brew".

"Would you like a brew?"

I like a good brew. But given the choice, I'll take a cuppa instead.
