And VST3 ?parawave wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 2:51 am Don't worry. Everything is fine over here. Not out of business. Not infected. Not dead.

Rapid is actively developed and new updates will be released. The next update heavily focuses on advanced modulations, which will eventually lead to MSEGs.
Raw software development is not very exciting. Most of the time the UI additions are the last thing to implement, so there isn't much to show at the moment. Anyway, everything is planned, so there is not much to discuss. You can of course.
Pro Tip : The more sounds and demos you post, the faster time goes by.

It´s funny how easy it is to make you happy again...
"Rapid is actively developed" ... that´s a good joke...
I am sorry that I step on someone's toes here but if I have a look at the facts it´s more the opposite of amazing and worth for receiving credits and applause just for some general statements which still seem to be far away...
The last update of Rapid was early december 2020... this means 17 month nothing ...
You all would kill the devs of your DAWs if they would leave you alone for nearly 1/12 year without the slightest update...
In the same amount of time i.e. Serum has received 5! updates and Steve has got several products to maintain... not just one...
If Rapid was developed in this pace, René must have started in kindergarten age...
Now you all are happy just because he says he has something in the make...
After 17 months, I hope for him, he does have... it seems he had a good reason why he made the product nfr as a german against current EU law...
Don´t get me wrong... I do like this synth... but it´s still buggy, has problems with the copy protection, has many downsides workflow wise and sadly a developer who seems to have more important stuff to do than working on updates improving this situation...
I often wanted to buy some extentions... but with this support I will not invest a single cent anymore...
Sorry again but who wants to charge like the big guys must deliver like the big guys (apart just some empty phrases) !

Yes. Already working. It will be included in the next update. The main reason being that Cubase will eventually remove VST2 in the next 24 months (announced in January).

Curious. When using Rapid, what is your general starting point? How often do you start from scratch vs loading/editing an existing preset? What is your approach when designing a new sound? And how long do you spend in general to fine tune a sound during production.
I ask this because perhaps there are common tasks that could be moved into "wizard/action" commands.

I am a find preset and tweak guy... I do like to twist and mess with my own samples, but Rapid is so cumbersome in doing that that I definitely don't do that in Rapid.
How long do I spend fine tuning? ... maybe 1-3 minutes max.

Yea OK - your assessment of the situation is, in this case, definitely more accurate than mineTrancit wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 7:17 pmI do not know if applause is really appropriate here...zeph wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 6:00 pmThanks a lot for replying and giving some really positive feedbackparawave wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 2:51 am Don't worry. But at the same time, Parawave haven’t signed any contract or obligation stipulating they have a minimum of updates to do. They are fully free to do what they want at the pace they want. Now if anyone is unsatisfied of this, it’s fully their right and opinion but still, it’s Parawave business model choice here. Up to you to ditch them if you are not happy. Whining won’t change their model of doing things.

I build everything from scratch when using Rapid, as I find the work flow quick and fun. Some of my favorite patches I’ve made have been with it. Generally it takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours to build something. Sometimes longer if a patch is in depth. I do find it to be one of the faster synths to build sounds in, maybe just behind Thorn, but faster than Dune 3 and Hive 2 (two other synths i use regularly).parawave wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 8:13 pmYes. I think the biggest addition to Rapid to really complete it, at least for me, would be MSEGs. Which I know are eventually coming. Hopefully sooner than later

I always start from scratch with an Init patch and I always do own synthesis, never use presets of any kind. Mostly using the wavetable and granular synthesis, for drones, soundscapes & all sorts of experimental sounds.parawave wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 8:13 pmYes. Already working. Rapid is one of the quickest synth I have. Very intuitive and easy to use. The main downside for me since I always use my own samples is the sample import, which is cumbersome and requires many steps and mouse clicks compared to there granular synths. It would be great if it was a very simple drag and drop sample, boom you're done. Transparent sample import like most granular synths have, no other steps, having to select every time the library, the Single or Multi sample, then the force loop, the root note, etc. Many steps that get irritating with time. But other than that, I freakin' love it and I think it's a very, very powerful synth. (+ of course, waiting for those powerful Mseg's like many others do too

I also like to start from scratch. It is one of the easiest and fun synths to work with. Usually it can take 10-15 minutes to work on patch if i have the goal and sound in mind or 30-40 minutes for sound design mangling.parawave wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 8:13 pmYes. Already working. And as a starting point, if it already isn't, I reset to INIT. No effects, nothing routed, just a single wave form.

I also think Rapid is fast and easy to develop new patches (but I don't import my own samples, use it more as a VA/WT)
More 'templates' as starting points always makes things faster.
Great news on VST3, its getting close to me deleting my VST2 folder!

I'm also mostly starting from scratch.
Using the Sample Selector, but also often with factory library sounds.
The only things I don't like about Rapid
- deactivating factory content happens quite often and sometimes I don't notice it, since it's not on the main track, then I render a track and only notice it when listening to the whole track that something is missing. I almost sent a premaster once without rapid tracks because of that. Please fix the CP, either display a popup it's deactivated or fix the CP!
I would even prefer a noise sample being played to notify deactivated factory content, than nothing! I need to notice it quickly.
