pekbro wrote: Thu Apr 28, 2022 6:54 pm I never thought the Pulsar wasn't worth the money, just that it was a lot and easy to resist because I don't have the scratch. Well, I do it's just too soon for me after spending nearly twice it's cost on a new guitar and amp, also I have the S2400, I need to get better with that before I go buying any other drum things. :tu:

*Of course, I did actually buy another drum sampler with the Sonicware Smpltrek, but that one
wasn't expensive.
Yeah, my intent wasn't to be like "Well you better find the money!" :hihi:
I feel really lucky that I get to use a lot of cool instruments and decide for myself what works. When I post in this thread, I do try to cut through some of the hype by keeping any comments within the context of how things work for me. I don't want to come across as a shill or a braggart, if you know what I mean (not that anyone here does that!).
I'd like to hear more about the S2400, do you have any recordings?

Some might find this weird, but I get really excited for other people when they post here with new toys. I love hearing other people's perspectives.
No recordings yet, the S2400 is going to be a bit of a journey for me as much like the modular thing, it's a new way of working (to me). It's a performance instrument first and foremost, being able to do much more than one-shots in it's individual tracks, so loops, live sampling and the performance manipulation thereof. I've not made a ton of progress with it so far, mostly due to being busy with other toys. However, with those other toys in place, I'm set to move forward with it. :tu:

That's cool. I really enjoy that period of wood-shedding with a new tool/toy. Especially when something new teaches me a trick that applies to other stuff I have.

Syntakt arrived today. I’ve got a stand coming on Saturday. I’ve been on work overload since last week so I can’t wait to turn this on and have some fun (I’m exhaustively overdue).

Rad! Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

Anyone used reverb for selling? Gone with their delivery options?
Can I set it to only sell within the UK? I really do not want to deal with sending anything through the current customs nightmare we created for ourselves. Thanks, the 52 per cent, great work, well done.
I sell stuff on Reverb from time to time. A few thoughts... If you use Reverb shipping, they will cover pretty much any kind of damage. I've only had to use this once but I'm glad I did. When I don't use Reverb, I ship via UPS. They aren't the best but when I have the UPS store do the packing and buy insurance through them, they cover any damaged incurred during shipping, even if it wasn't packaged correctly. That said, the UPS store near my office is used to shipping expensive studio equipment and know how it should be packaged (double-boxed, lots of insulation), the place near my house isn't as good about that.

I really prefer to do sales directly via Craigslist (I'm sure you have some kind of online classifieds in the UK) or like the For Sale section on Mod Wiggler. But there is more risk that way. If you go through Reverb, there will be some fees, so take that into account when pricing stuff. Yes, you can set the listing to exclude shipping outside of your region.

Thanks for that, the shipping cover sounds useful. Think I’ll try that for my first go at it, I want to have a good experience so it doesn’t put me off because I know I’ve got to clear the decks a bit.

Now this is the kind of purchase that stings a little bit for me, like buying underwear

Analog Cases, Sustain Case for the Sequential Pro 3, $250 geeze. Sure I could have got a cheaper
case that was maybe only a foot longer than the actual synth, but I like nice stuff.
A hard case would have been better, but I couldn't really find one. This is the only case I know of
specifically made for the Pro 3. Even this one was hard to get, from Amazon at least, where I
don't have to pay $70 for shipping.

I usually turn to Reverb if I don't sell stuff on Mod Wiggler. The fees are annoying, but also people are used to higher prices there so you can adjust to cover it. And things tend to sell faster there.

For packing generally, I usually double-box everything. With smaller, lighter, cheaper Euro modules if the original box is sturdy and there's plenty of bubble wrap inside, I might just wrap the box in a shipping envelope instead. I always use Reverb Safe Shipping when I sell through them.

I have a couple of basses that were already very cheap when new, and if I decide to let go of them, I know I can't compete with shops that are selling them with free shipping. So those will probably go to Guitar Center for whatever pittance I can get, or donated somewhere. Or perhaps they'll be experimented upon...

In my seemingly inexorable drive to own all the programmable modules, Ive acquired an Allen Synthesis Europi to build, and an Electrosmith patch.Init() with a spare Daisy Submodule.

I’m probably not the best to talk about this being so new to Elektron gear. I’ve been spending some time on their board and there’s lots of angry folks since I guess this borrows features from other boxes. Being new, I’m obviously happy for a Dr. Frankenstein creation.

Now that it’s here, there’s no way I’d give up Digitakt (but it’s my only Sample player I’ll use now). I don’t plan on always using it as a straight up drum machine but if I did I’d be unhappy with the options for snares and hats. There’s noise machines that can be used, plus with 12 tracks you can always “layer” to get the right snare or hats.

I’m having fun but I think some of my favorite machines are already available on Cycles. I don’t know what the differences are but I love that some variations are no where near drum machine land.

I doubt it’s Pulsar 23 fun, but I’m having fun. :hyper:
