Yes. They are not 100% Equal but good enough and if i had to Choose between a Old crackly broken sounding synth that will soon start to smoke or make no sound at all and the new one i know what i would choose.astralprojection wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 8:59 amive seen that video, theres clearly a big difference, and that being the original does sound analog while the new sounds like any old software synth, still great, but not the same. so if its purely sound you want, then you dont have to spend all that money for the midi controller that is the juno-x, can just use any vst and program it the same way, and thats the same sound. the beauty of the old junos is their blatant analog sound, thats for sure possible to recreate using a bit of eq and saturation, but still it isnt the same thing. im no purist, matter of fact ive not own a single hardware synth yet. but had i had the money, theres a few i would get purely for the sound they impart. and that includes digital synths aswell.

But it would be a glorified midi controller that looks like a Juno 106 and is made by the same company that made the original. I have not tried the keybed on it, but it seems that it could make for a decent main midi controller for my needs.astralprojection wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 7:29 am I'm probably way out of line to ask but, why would anyone pay that much money, for something that is based on zen core? It sounds literally exactly like the software does. So that really means what you are buying is a glorified midi controller, that has a built in vst. At least that's how I see it.
Now I understand the appeal of hardware, both for hands on control but specifically the sound.
If the sound is identical to what's in the cloud, then I already have the sound, because I'm on Roland Cloud. I wouldn't be buying this because I need the sound.
If this didn't look anything like a Juno 106, but had the same exact sound, then I wouldn't be interested at all.
So for me at least, I guess that the answer to your question would be nostalgia.

I would choose the new one Because of SuperSaws. he-heastralprojection wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 10:50 amid pick the broken down oneD-Fusion wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 10:18 amYes. But in a ideal world i would choose none of them since i already have Zenology Pro + Roland Fa-06, JD-Xi, JX03 and Ik Uno Synth.
So i am more than covered when it comes to the Roland Sound

Voice count and native plugin compatibility. AFAIK, the ACB models aren’t available as plugins.astralprojection wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:00 am why seperate ACB and zen core, why not just make it one and the same. its all software so it really doesnt make much sense to split it up like that. imo.

Lower voice count is due to higher cpu each voice ACB modelling.Uncle E wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 2:49 pmVoice count and native plugin compatibility. Roland called them PlugOuts, and System-8 came with three free ones. Jupiter 8 and Juno-106 and something more.
I think there were more PlugOuts on Roland Cloud.

As lifetime products i have the System 1 and 8, Sh-101, SH2, System 100, Jupiter 8, JX3P, Juno 60 and Promars.
On the Zen ABM Side i have Zenology Pro, Jupiter 8 and JD800 + 3 SRX Zen Banks.
I also have lifetime keys for SRX Dance Trax, SRX Orchestra, SRX Studio, Sound Canvas and D50.

Ah, right, I forgot that System-8 and System-1 are available as native plugins. How is the CPU usage of the System-8 (ACB) vs. the Jupiter-8 (Zen)? How is the sound of the Pro Mars (ACB) vs. the Jupiter-8? The real Pro Mars is basically a single voice version of the real Jupiter-8. I have a real Pro Mars and it may be the best monosynths I've ever owned (IMO, better than Minimoog, ARP 2600, Pro One, etc.) so, if the plugin is accurate, it should blow away any other plugin out there.
Now I'm curious about getting a System-1 and using it as a controller for the ACB plugins, especially since all the plug-outs are monophonic when they get put into the System-8, anyway.

$2k seems a bit far-fetched. That places it above the nostalgia market IMO. So that reduces it down to those younger pups that have heard about Junos but not actually experienced them...I feel they'll be mightily disappointed when they actually buy it because any kind of Juno is absolutely NOT worth $2k (IMO). I'll sell my 106 and Alpha for $2k if anyone's dumb enough to pay? Then you can be disappointed for real.

The Jupiter 8 Acb and the System 8 use way more Cpu compared to the Zen JP 8 and i see the same with the SRX Plugins vs Zen Pro and their version of the SRX.Uncle E wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 5:30 pm Ah, right, I forgot that System-8 and System-1 are available as native plugins. Haven't thought about Comparing them but i did compare the Tal J8 with the Jupiter 8 ACB Version and when i set the Vco Calibration in Tal J8 between 3.30 to 3.40 it sounds the same as The Roland.

Alphas are killer. Well worth the $4-600 they sell for these days. Juno-106's are nowhere near worth the current selling price and sound mediocre. Juno-60's are not worth the current selling price but the sound is excellent.kritikon wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 6:03 pm $2k seems a bit far-fetched. That places it above the nostalgia market IMO. Interesting. I'm only seeing one Jupiter-8 on Roland Cloud and no mention of plug-out. Confusing.D-Fusion wrote: Fri Apr 29, 2022 6:16 pm The Jupiter 8 Acb and the System 8 use way more Cpu compared to the Zen JP 8 and i see the same with the SRX Plugins vs Zen Pro and their version of the SRX.

If the Roland and TAL can sound the same, that's actually better than I expected from Roland.

I missed out on an Alpha2 about 10 years ago
It's was in a local music shop for 250, I offered 175, they phoned the bloke and he said 195 min...I walked....really should have bit the bullet, especially as I knew I could easily get my money back...

The Difference is that the Zenology Versions can't be selected as Lifetime keys and have to be bought separately ( I Bought the Zenology Jupiter 8 at JRR Shop)
The Reason i decided to get the Zenology version even when i already have Arturia Jup 8V, Tal J8 and Roland Jupiter 8 vst is that i can use it in a Zenology based HW if i get one in the future if my FA-06 breaks down and that it also have 2 extra filter models in it (Moog and Sequential).

the current lineups are even more confusing that I thought. Plug out, plug in, acb, zen core, legendary editions, zen editions, boutiqes, re-releases; i mean damn roland you scary. its all software. put it as 1 thing and let it go.
anyone compared Juno-106 ACB plug in (or plug OUT whatever its called) legendary edition: with the Juno-X ? That would be directly comparing acb to zen core at least.. Man its so trippy that a company has all these different versions and variations of virtually the same thing using different looks and "shells" for it.
