Ah, the EX5! What potential that beast had! If only its SCSI storage wasn’t so slow. I used to dream of owning one—Along with the ASR10.

I'd have to say viper, but I really like the Virus sound.

I think Viper is very underrated. I've had it for a while now and I don't think to go to it often but, whenever I do, it always does a great job.

If that were the case, no one would use any other VST than Omnisphere. All sounds sound the same to me. It's okay for film music and some effects....
but no musical hits have been produced using it....

I honestly don't understand this thread.
A dictionary definition of "sonic" is "enoting, relating to, or of the nature of sound or sound waves: the whales emit sonic pulse systems."
Is this discussion just about what synths we think sound best?
And if so, for what kind of music?

1. Favourite synth in terms of sonics/sound (not GUI, workflow, CPU optimisation, etc.)
2. Best, closest sounding emulation.
Sonically best DX7 emulation.
Sonically best MiniMoog emulation.
Sonically best Prophet-5 emulation...

For me Bazille
Just feels like I'm using hardware rather than a piece of software and it constantly surprises me with its sonic abilities - from soundscapes to trance plucks to sublime pads

Of course, threads like these will be subjective. Still interesting to see what people consider the best sounding synths. Actually, in most cases, it's not so far off my own impressions.

Have you heard the Blade Runner patch on Omnisphere by Luftrum its still my overall favourite patch across any of my synths and it doesn't use samples - I think is a good example on how powerful and how good sounding the engine in Omnisphere is - personally though I find it a bit of a faff to programme inChipi wrote: Wed Apr 27, 2022 2:43 amIf that were the case, no one would use any other VST than Omnisphere. Spectrasonics is unlike any other team ,be it hardware or software.
My Yamaha EX5 puts out better analog solids than the Omni.![]()

Nothing sounds better than Omnisphere. It's the best.
