No such thing as boring utility bits!

I got tracking today… mine is expected for Thursday. I’m gonna need it because I have a terrible Wednesday full of meetings and BS in midtown. Who the f**k wants to travel to midtown at this time.

I'm seeing a lot of 2nd hand Elektron boxes for sale here in Finland too. First page on our most common 2nd hand music oriented market has 5 different Elektrons for sale! 500 euros was cheapest Digitakt. I'm really tempted by that but the mono samples have always been a no-go for me as I love whacky stereo samples and ambience.

My Syntakt arrived today, first Elektron box for me, great little box, love the overbridge integration too. Gonna spend a while getting to know the quirks of the sequencer.

Tell us if the analog drums seem worth it.

For me yes, especially those analog cymbal voices, so much scope on all the machines, even thou the analog DVCO is basic it can thunder :)
Never used an Elektron before, and this is a good step into their world..

I think I have to be appreciative of KVR more… I’ve been reading the Elektronauts forum since getting Digitakt (weeks ago) and it’s chaos when anyone criticizes Syntakt now.

My Syntakt arrived almost 2 days ago (time is a blur lately). I’m still exploring how this thing can be abused with the different machines.

Much of it is very basic but flexible for drums and deep bass sounds. I always wanted dedicated analog voices for drums and this is my first hardware gear that does that.

The melodic /more traditional synth side is much weaker than I expected but there’s plenty to push and shape within the limitations of the box to still get great results.

The more I read and hear from Syntakt, the more I think I’m OK with my Digitakt, Model: Cycles, and Drumbrute Impact. It would be nice to replace them with one box, but Syntakt doesn’t really seem to be what I’m looking for. Oh well…

It might be worth looking at after a future update?

I can’t imagine it not receiving more digital FX and hopefully more machines that could possibly help you consolidate to one box. I hope.

I’m still loving Digitakt but I know you have other options.

Yeah, good point. I’m sure one the initial hype is over, I’ll start seeing good deals on secondhand units, and hopefully there will be some improvements by then.

Syntakt perfect for me, I tried a digitakt once, wasnt for me, hated the messing about with samples.

This was cool to see…

I don’t think the included demo tracks showcase what Syntakt can actually do and weren’t mixed well on the device. I think only the 14th pattern showed some range (and space).

In case anyone is looking at these, Syntakt is on sale until November 30th for $799

You can buy direct from Elektron and it looks like your favorite shops that sell Elektron, should have the same deal.
