So I bought Trueno synth.. And here's the review!

It's pretty appalling that the developer's disappeared, after such a short amount of time. Shows very little respect for those that purchased the synth.

My Trueno frequently goes glitchy and unusable, has the audio disappear, or crashes my DAW. It's great when it works but the usability is a bit of a nightmare. I had my first one replaced and the second still does this, though slightly less. Dodgy hardware or buggy software... or both? Either way, there's not much comeback now it seems.

I feel a bit sorry for the developer because he did such a great job with it and has probably lost a substantial amount of money. But no, let's make it all about you instead. Yes, every now and then it goes a bit crazy but you just unplug it and plug it back in and it's fine. It's rare enough that it wouldn't worry me using it on stage. It's certainly not so bad that I'd even bother contacting the dev over.

Why? Roland stopped making TB303s 40 years ago, and they absolutely won't fix one if it breaks, but that doesn't make them worthless in 2020. It is what it is and it works so what's the problem?

Why is it a pity that a manufacturer drops production and support of a cool idea?

Anyone still using their Trueno? I found mine in a hidden pocket in one of my old laptop bags over the weekend. I'd pretty much forgotten all about it and I doubt I've even got the installer any more, so I probably couldn't use it if I wanted to (the website is gone).

Nuff said. In case anyone doubted it needed closing, case closed on this guy as far as I'm concerned.

You may have missed it but I'm fine with the situation. I easily got my $100 worth out of it and if I'd really cared at any point, I'd have made sure I had a back-up of the software. So any problem that exists is my problem, not a problem with the guy who made Trueno.

Honestly, would the world be a better place if Trueno had never existed? No, it would not. It was a brilliant, innovative idea that deserved more support. It's people like you, who care only about yourselves, who make it so hard for products like this to succeed. What if your purchase was the one that would have taken the product over the threshold of viability and that it's only because you're so selfish that it failed? Would you be OK with that?

Personally, I am really disappointed that it failed because if it hadn't, who knows how many others might have tried something similar? I'll always want to support projects like this because they are worth supporting. If I do my dough, I do my dough, but the world is a better place when people have the freedom to try new and innovative things.

I still use mine occasionally. It has a pretty unique sound, especially the filter (supposed to be similar to Polivoks) and the digital/additive oscillators. It can sound really gnarly. Obviously not something you'd use on every track necessarily. I'm glad I managed to snag one before they went away.

I archived the drivers on my NAS and on my Backblaze account so they're safe. Since I'm using Windows I don't foresee any issues for a long time. They had the foresight to provide a VST3 version of the plugin so even if/when VST2 support disappears in DAWs it should work fine. For Mac it's probably a different story due to the move to M1.

I don't really have any issues with it. If it's unstable/glitchy, try different USB ports or maybe a powered USB hub, it seems to be quite power hungry.

I'm more disappointed in Access Music to be honest. They still sell the Virus TI for €2300, advertising the "Total Integration" on both Mac and PC, while they have completely abandoned support and development of the driver/plugin. At least Trueno pulled out of the market when they were no longer able to support the product.

You would be amazed how much stuff I lose. You'd think it was impossible but it's so much easier than when I lived in an apartment because there are so many little hidey holes around the place, so many different places to put the same things. There are no cupboards so stuff that you'd have all in one place, I have distributed over half-a-dozen little nooks and crannies, so keeping track of things is a PITA.

Of course, in this case it's a matter of working out which of my many back-up drives it's likely to be in and at least those drives live in the same place, so I know where they all are. Even knowing where they are, though, doesn't mean I won't have to move half-a-dozen other boxes to get at the box they live in. (They are in the spare berth.)

that's what yah need on your bat...one of the boats I sailed on (35' choy lee lion sloop) had one
