I just got back from doing my laundry and while waiting stopped into our local music store and purchased three Jimi Hendrix cds (Are You Experienced, Axis Bold as Love and Electric Ladyland) and the latest Los Straitjackets cd (great surf band). Been in the mood for some rock music lately.
I have these in vinyl but for some reason never got around to getting them on cd. I have to say that Are you Experienced is still my fave album from him, Electric Ladyland is a close second. This music is some of the most influential music in my LIFE (I got to meat him when I was 15 years old just after Are You Experienced came out, I even got to shake his hand but unfortunately his mojo did not get passed on).

What is your favorite Hendrix album? 8)

I used to like you... Image

And to the OP, my favorite is Band of Gypsies. I was lucky enough to see Buddy Miles live in Key west a few years back, good stuff :D

Some music here

just to be difficult i would say the second show at winterland on nov 11th 1968

classic gig where herbie rich joins em on the hammond

or else vibratory's merge of the second show on new years eve 1969 - the death of the 60s is black

or the maui gig - very differnt sound on that - not so fuzzy

or maybe ..... i could go on i suppose but i guess if i stick to legal releases its probably electric ladyland - i listened to side four of that for an entire acid trip - well other music was tried but everyone agreed it just wasn't as good

how do you pick one over the other?
I can't even figure out which is my favorite song
it's 'the wind cries mary'
or is it 'crosstown traffic'
no no.it's 'are you experienced'
or am I thinking of 'all along the watchtower' or 'castles made of sand' or 'third stone from the sun'
but then 'hey joe' and 'angel' are timeless too....

I got to see him 3 times in the 60's but I loved the concerts immensly (but of course I was tripping all three times and I am sure he was too

It was very hard to get the alternate covers here in the states at the time (especially on a teenagers buget) I wanted to get the one with the naked chicks on it---british cover I think)

I was a big Buddy miles fan (his solo album was pretty good too) but by that time I got into Led Zepelin so my attention span was redirected.

That will be the next question.
BTW I am partial to 1983 (a Merman I should Turn to Be), or is it Are you Experienced. No wait Little Wing, or maybe Purple Haze. etc,etc,etc... 8)
