Interesting. Yes, it's somewhat bright, but never to a degree that I found off-putting or problematic. On a send, yes I EQ my returns, but nothing too drastic; but I also use Sonsig as an insert a lot, in which case I'm stuck with the on-board brightness / damping controls. Maybe I just like 'bright' verbs, dunno!

Re: the 224 being a one trick pony, if it weren't for how Vangelis used it, I'd probably never have thought twice about the unit in my life. But, well, he did...and the rest is beautiful Greek CS-80 History :P.

All the same, there are *plenty* of reverbs other than the UAD 224 that do great deep-space / long tail verbs, Sonsig and AAR being top contenders among them. So if you're not feeling like subscribing for *just that one trick*, I'd say you're gut is right, and don't bother. It's good, but it's not "buy into a whole new subscription system" good. :tu:

I know it’s more of a delay/reverb hybrid but Surreal Machines Diffuse always sounds lovely to me. A specific sort of sound maybe but a favourite of mine.

Back in the hardware days when everything interesting was a 2U black box it was all about getting it into the basement without being noticed. Once there, I was in like Flynn. All of those black rectangles looked the same to the uninitiated.

The thing about the Sonsig Rev-A in FL Studio you must use 'Fixed Size Buffers' in the Troubleshooting settings tab, which messes with the latency and you run into phase cancellation problems automating mix/parallel sends. Relab don't have any interest in fixing it.

Lovely smooth character though.

Anything Valhalla.

I have a new favourite for realistic spaces: Eventide Tverb.

Wow!

I love the Valhalla Verbs like everyone else. Over the years Molecular Bytes Atomic Reverb has been one of my most used plugins. Always thought that one was massively under rated.

Not everyone. But the KVR bandwagon effect is strong.

I have his free toys. I've contemplated buying shimmer a few times now. I really like Sean. He sparks interesting conversation on here from time to time and he seems like a genuine guy trying to do his thing. I think that I might be more impressed with his over verbs if fate did not build my collection in the way that it did.

I've always liked 2c Audio's Breeze 2. Sounds great and uses so little cpu.

I'm finding MCharmverb is pretty ok for a freebie. I love the old Smart Electronix Ambience for a super short reverb on vocals to give them a little 3D size before the main verb, but it seems a bit buggy in Bitwig and spikes the CPU sometimes. I haven't found a good replacement.

I like ARVerb Room that just came out, for realistic room ambiance:

I’ve been watching some Ahiko Matsumoto videos showing off his Max for Live midi modules. The modules are fine, but he uses Zynaptiq Adaptiverb, and I’m getting serious GAS. Adaptiverb is not especially cheap either. Anyone else have an opinion? Here’s something that made me think about Adaptiverb. He has a bunch of other videos with it too.

I guess I’ll weigh in on what I use the most. I have R4, Sonsig, Bx Rooms, and I’ve really come to appreciate Raum. I also have Softube’s reverb, and it’s pretty good too. I suppose if I was really happy with what I have, I wouldn’t be up here asking about that.

While I’m thinking about it, who has an opinion of Fab Filter’s Reverb? It’s on sale for around $130 right now.
