Anyone done the xd kybd + desktop polychain thing?
What happens with the custom user processors do you get two separate ones or are they combined into one?

Have you considered swapping out the Minilogue XD keyboard for a Prologue 8? Personally, the 4 voices is enough for me, but if I wanted 8 voices, I'd probably go that route over the polychain option. I obviously have no idea how the market is where you live, but I've recently seen a few secondhand Prologue 8s sell for about the same or less than the cost of secondhand XD keys + XD module in my area.

What puts me off is I’ve heard reports of voice issues with the Prologue, but maybe that was just the 16?
I do think the desktop is a great form factor, not a fan of the mini keys.

The Rings clone I ordered arrived which immediately causes a problem I was afraid might happen.
It’s a digital module. It shouldn’t really sound any better than the software Rings clone in VCV Rack, but it does. By miles. Maybe it’s saturation passing it through an analog VCA, not sure.

can you patch pc audio in to your modular?
try the clouds clone through the same settings on the vca?

maybe rings hw sounds brighter than clouds? dunno, but from the few bits ive heard of the clouds in vcv it's pretty bloody close! (as one would expect being a port)

I’ll try, but having lost two hours to modular without realising it, very easy to do, I may leave it a bit!

No more modules as Mutable is closing it's doors I guess. Sad turn of events, though I never was really
interested in the stuff myself.

I do like what they offer, but the original mutable modules don’t appeal too much to me as they’re so wide. The nano Rings I got is 8hp, original is 14hp.

ah that is sad
i like some (obviously) but not all are for me, same as any company i guess. but it's always going to be sad to see a well established company give it up, for whatever reasons

Picked up a second hand Akemie’s Taiko from reverb. That’s probably all the FM I need so may look to flog my Digitone to finance a BIA.

it is interesting but im overloaded with sequencers and only have 26 hp left.
and given costs not sure there will be another case, not even a tip top buchla

I agree, the hardware Rings sounds a lot better than the VCV Rack one for whatever reason. It also has some modes the VCV one doesn't if I remember right. And you can crank down the frequency below normal with negative voltage into the V/OCT input and use it like a weird lo-fi reverb (which I don't think works in VCV either).
