The knobs, faders, and wheels feel good. The keys are too light but otherwise are decent. I like the look but I also saw the original Tron in the movie theater, so maybe that has to do with my age/generation/affinity-for-neon:

So far, I'm finding the JD-XA to be exactly what I expected it would be. Kind of analog, kind of digital, with nice aspects from both but not perfect. Sometimes I get tired of how static a lot of vintage analog synths are and this completely fixes that. Every patch has lots of movement. At the same time, the digital has a tendency to be harsh, giving it a VA kind of character. The analog filters just don't smooth out the digital the way they do with the Quantum (I'm not even sure if the digital goes through the analog circuitry at all).

I'm with you. You just can't have too many lights on a synth. TBH they'd probably make them better if they vibrate when they light up and emit static lightning from the keys - missed a trick there...

Yep I treated my overdue mid life crisis to the JD-XA. Do like it. It niggles in veunh light weight but then my other is a Jd800!
Not seeking to derail thread and as theres a mention of the XA. Is there a way to save the system set up ie local off tx midi channels etc. Only thing that frustrates me is all the menu options to set up prior a session.

JD-XA can route the digital oscillators through the analog filters. I'll need to check the VA-sounding patches to see how they're routed. Also, JD-XA can load Integra-7 Supernatural Synth patches, which are quite good!
