There are plenty of cheap really nice bass libraries with stuff like sampled hammer one and playable slides which are the type of thing you'll be needing to pull this off. If you absolutely have to use a synth I would try fm8 or something with the same feature set since fm has the most realistic bass guitar sounds I've ever heard.
