Sure but there should be no hidden modes in KK or Machine either, NI need to make creation of banks open to users.EvilDragon wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 10:14 pmTimeframes and milestones... Sound designers for NI soundbanks also use KK or Maschine to tag things. There are no hidden modes to do this directly in MX.
Massive X 1.6.1 update (September 2025)!

yes it is. in a few years it might actually become a user friendly powerhouse. Til then we get an unfinished mess. I do realize that since the vulture capitalists consumed NI, it's much more important to get it out the door and get the profits rolling in then it is to craft a well thought out, thoroughly optimized synth. Opposite of NI circa 2007. Same as any company taken over by vulture capitalists.EvilDragon wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 7:56 pm Everything you see is incremental. Development on the browser is ongoing.

Any idea we will ever see resizable GUIs for older plugins like Massive, FM8, or Reaktor based synths? I highly doubt so, but thought to ask if you know and can share something. At the least, I want it to happen for Super 8.EvilDragon wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 10:17 pmAll of the recent NI releases use the Qt graphical framework (starting with Mod Pack onward). Touchscreen mode is of course possible, but it's mostly a matter of prioritization.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 8:59 pmAs soon as you adjust the control in any direction, it goes to max or min in that direction you're moving. It's pretty much impossible to make any actual adjustments. This was the case for some plugins, I guess that use a certain UI framework, I dunno. Like the classic reverbs had this issue for a while, and then they added touch screen mode in settings, which made the controls respond normally to touch. I get the sense their developers for different products don't talk to each other at all, or use the same tools at all.

Well it's great to have some kind of tag browser, basic and clumsy and closed though it is. 2 different tabs for the two fields... really?
But it hits me anew every time. Massive X is - by a long shot - the synth I simply cannot understand the fuss over it. Everything still sounds cold and vaguely unpleasant. I'm definitely an analog guy, but Avenger and Pigments to name but two... I don't get that feeling with either of them. (But I do get a similar feeling with Falcon).
I have 1,600 Massive X presets now, but I think I can count on the fingers of one hand the patches I quite like.

I have nearly as many Massive X presets, so yesterday I decided to choose one category and go though it marking my favorites.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri May 06, 2022 7:30 am

But what struck me was the number of presets that I had to skip over, that seemed harsh and not musically useful. There were plenty of keepers, but definitely not the majority of them. Something for everybody, perhaps?

How so?aMUSEd wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 7:29 pm Unfortunately it is not quite the highly anticipated update that many of us wantedThe browser is only really useful for NI 'in-house' content.

Are you saying the browser improvements are not applicable to user presets? So user presets are still one folder and that is it?aMUSEd wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 7:52 pm In a way yes, but it seems to indicate that NI are only really bothered about making sure people can find NI created content more easily, not organise and tag their own patches, and not enable sound designers to create and share banks that won't get lost in the mess that the user section quickly becomes once you have more than a hundred or so patches.

Yep - if you want to tag user presets you can still do that in Komplete Kontrol but, absurdly, not in Massive X, and there is no way to organise collections of patches into banks.pdxindy wrote: Fri May 06, 2022 2:03 pmAre you saying the browser improvements are not applicable to user presets? Great news that a) it's here, and b) they've chosen to do incremental updates and show some of their efforts.
Yay!!

So 2 years to go from 1.3 -> 1.4 and for those only using Massive X and making their own presets, there is no browser improvement and that is the main thing in the update. Meanwhile, Vital (a free synth) has all the stuff MX is missing and 1.5 adds undo/redo, speed improvements and is M1 Native.aMUSEd wrote: Fri May 06, 2022 3:31 pmYep - if you want to tag user presets you can still do that in Komplete Kontrol but, absurdly, not in Massive X, and there is no way to organise collections of patches into banks.pdxindy wrote: Fri May 06, 2022 2:03 pm

Glad I uninstalled MX as I'll die of old age before MX ever gets the basics implemented.
Thx for the info!
