What’s new in V Collection 9?
Korg MS-20 V
SQ80 V
Augmented STRINGS
Augmented VOICES
CS-80 V
Prophet-5 V
Prophet-VS V
Piano V
Wow, guess arturia can't be too happy about those guys spoiling everything.
:?
Besides that, why didn't they release it on the 9th?! Would have made it so much more satisfying.

Surprised that Augmented Series is in there, I thought they’d keep those separate. I suspect this Augmented Strings will be the full version of the freebie they gave out recently.

What? Why would they include the Augmented series in the V Collection? Fake? Augmented has nothing to do with V as in Vintage. Well, we'll see..

Just in case it gets taken down, here’s the extra info:
V Collection 9 now includes 32 instruments: more than just synths and keyboards, the suite now features 2 Augmented Series titles
4 new instruments: Korg MS-20 V, SQ80 V, Augmented STRINGS, and Augmented VOICES
Prophet-5 V & Prophet-VS V: now 2 individual instruments that were previously a combined hybrid instrument, totally rebuilt from scratch with next-gen modelling
CS-80 V rebuild: a brand new sound engine with totally rebuilt DSP modelling, advanced modulation, voice dispersion, and a modernised advanced panel.
Piano V rebuild: a brand new physical modelling instrument, now featuring 12 piano models, from Japanese Grand to Piano Bar Upright, and advanced sound design controls.
Thousands of new expertly-crafted presets: presets for every instrument, 14 new sound banks, and a huge range of styles -exclusively available for V Collection 9 owners.
Performance and workflow updates: improved loading times, refreshed GUIs, expanded user playlist functionality, and more.
Price there is £419. RRP of V Collection 8 at another retailer is £539 - not sure what can be read into that.

"V" stands for "Virtual", not "Vintage".

It would be cool if whoever made a good theremin plugin also made a good, but reasonably priced midi controller to go along with it, kind of like what Roland has with their D-beam stuff.

In my opinion, the Theremin experience and sound is not just the sound that it makes, but how that sound gets made with a person's hand movements.

A controller like that seems to be a pretty simple and cheap thing for a company to make if they wanted to, and they could make one and sell it for a reasonable price too.
you could probably just buy a theremin for the same price though.

Yeah, it’s surprising, I thought they were going to start a whole new line there. 99.9% certain it’s not fake - GAK are a reputable retailer.

Looks like a really nice update.

I don't know how to play a Theremin, I've never laid my hands on one before, so I wouldn't want to spend many hundreds on something like a Moog Theremin, but if there was a decent plugin with a decent midi controller that could be considered an impulse buy at under $100, then that would make the proposition more appealing.

you can find theremins of different makes for pretty cheap and there used to be a diy kit around. if it's something you're interested in it's a solvable problem.. i think there's always someone trying to get rid of a theremin because it's a theremin and is a niche thing that only appeals to a handful of people.

that being said.. i doubt anyone could make the plug in and a controller for under $100.. at least not one that would be worth owning. it's probably not a very marketable product really. there's not many people saying "ya know what the world needs? a theremin VST instrument."

also, no one has ever laid hands on a theremin :hihi:

Not sure if these could emulate a theremin, but positive you can do hand movements for midi generation….

Don't know anything about GAK, but if you say they are reputable, I trust that :)

Myself I don't think as much it is a nice update. I could go with two vintage synths instead of the Augmented ones, and a new Piano V update I can't see any use for. I have two KORG MS-20 already (KORG's own and Cherry Audios). I'm sorry, I really sound negative, but I also already own the SQ80.

We'll see what the upgrade price will be, I have upgraded to every version since v4.

I’m looking forward to the full Augmented series, that freebie was good (albeit thirsty). People have been clamouring for updates to the CS80 and Prophets for ages. I have the Korg MS20 (and the MS20iC controller… wonder if that will work?) but I’d quite like a version that breaks a few rules, like being able to have PWM and I bet they’ll do that.

Really and truly, the absence of new analog synths… I mean how many more do I want?

Soundsets are always nice to have, and it looks like some good general improvements. If it’s $99 from v8 + SQ80 I’m in.

Prepare for the outpouring of angst at the upgrade price….especially if it’s €199.

Ooooh yeah.

The RRP for the full version looks good, but historically Arturia aren’t always super-generous on the upgrade deals at launch and it pays to wait. If so - c’est la vie.

Nevertheless, my guess is $149 for v8, $99 or maybe $119 or something inc SQ80.
