Is the augmented strings any different from the free version they had released?

I could go with two vintage synths instead of the Augmented ones, and a new Piano V update I can't see any use for. I have two KORG MS-20 already (KORG's own and Cherry Audios). I'm sorry, I really sound negative, but I also already own the SQ80.

We'll see what the upgrade price will be, I have upgraded to every version since v4.
I’m looking forward to the full Augmented series, that freebie was good (albeit thirsty). People have been clamouring for updates to the CS80 and Prophets for ages. I have the Korg MS20 (and the MS20iC controller… wonder if that will work?) but I’d quite like a version that breaks a few rules, like being able to have PWM and I bet they’ll do that.

Really and truly, the absence of new analog synths… I mean how many more do I want?

Soundsets are always nice to have, and it looks like some good general improvements. If it’s $99 from v8 + SQ80 I’m in.
I would probably buy the Augmented series separately, so I want Arturia to keep the V Collection as a Vintage Collection. There are territories they haven't touched yet, depending on how far back "vintage" goes :)

KORG is probably nice, and as you say, something that breaks the rules a bit, so I might change my mind with that one. But they haven't done anything by Kawai yet, for instance. And there are many other Yamaha synths, as well as other synths from Ensoniq, Oberheim...bla bla... :P

I think I'm good in the end, I like the Arturia stuff. If it is $99, which I don't believe, I'll take it. $149, I need to think about it, $199, I will wait for a sale.

Since they named the free version "Intro", I believe so. If they don't meen "Introduction to the Augmented series".

"V" stands for "Virtual", not "Vintage".
I have learned that it stands for Vintage. Why didn't they include Pigments at an earlier stage if it would be Virtual?

And from the press release 2005.. (from their website)

"ARTURIA announces the Vintage Collection pack"

I don't know how to play a Theremin, I've never laid my hands on one before, so I wouldn't want to spend many hundreds on something like a Moog Theremin, but if there was a decent plugin with a decent midi controller that could be considered an impulse buy at under $100, then that would make the proposition more appealing.
you can find theremins of different makes for pretty cheap and there used to be a diy kit around. if it's something you're interested in it's a solvable problem.. i think there's always someone trying to get rid of a theremin because it's a theremin and is a niche thing that only appeals to a handful of people.

that being said.. i doubt anyone could make the plug in and a controller for under $100.. at least not one that would be worth owning. it's probably not a very marketable product really. there's not many people saying "ya know what the world needs? a theremin VST instrument."

also, no one has ever laid hands on a theremin :hihi:
I agree that there is probably not a very huge market for Theremins or people looking to play or learn one.

I guess that's why we see people releasing Minimoog emulation #26 instead of a theremin.

As for people laying their hands on a theremin, I suppose that was poorly worded on my part, indeed, but I guess that people do lay their hands on a theremin when they're not playing it, if they're going to pick it up and move it someplace else. :)

Ten buck ipad app-

Just found the above has watch support as well

And then there was this but not sure hardware is available anymore

I haven't tried that iPad app, but now that you mention it, I think that I have some type of Theremin app on my iPad that I bought many years ago and have forgotten about. I'll have to go through my old apps one day and see if I still have it.

The iPad can probably do an ok theremin, since somebody can slide their fingers across the keyboard and have the notes glide and slide from one note to the next, which somebody wouldn't be able to do on a regular hardware midi controller keyboard.

Stagecraft Software has a Theremin, but I think it's crap. But just for reference .)

They need to leave the P5 and Moog alone, already done to death and perfected elsewhere.

V9 should just be reworked upgrades starting with Matrix 12.  Other likely synths, Wurlitzer, Yamaha CS-80 and Arp 2600.

What's interesting is the MS-20 V has the Korg logo in those screenshots. If it's still there at release it means Korg licensed the rights to them, despite having their own MS-20 product :)

They probably know people will upgrade to V Collection 9 despite maybe already owning the KORG Collection (I will and I do, for instance).

Surprised to see the Augmented Series in V9. Would have liked another new synth that I don't already have, but I expect the CS-80 and Prophet VS remakes will feel like new instruments anyway.

GAK already have V9 for sale.

Oh my, what an exciting update; I can hardly wait to get my copy.

Good point. In fact, is this the first officially branded product from Arturia?
