W23 wrote: Sat May 07, 2022 10:42 pm I’ve been watching some Ahiko Matsumoto videos showing off his Max for Live midi modules. The modules are fine, but he uses Zynaptiq Adaptiverb, and I’m getting serious GAS. Adaptiverb is not especially cheap either. Anyone else have an opinion? Here’s something that made me think about Adaptiverb. He has a bunch of other videos with it too.

I guess I’ll weigh in on what I use the most. I have R4, Sonsig, Bx Rooms, and I’ve really come to appreciate Raum. I also have Softube’s reverb, and it’s pretty good too. I suppose if I was really happy with what I have, I wouldn’t be up here asking about that.

While I’m thinking about it, who has an opinion of Fab Filter’s Reverb? It’s on sale for around $130 right now.
I seem to hear “metal” in reverbs pretty easily AND I don’t like it. I personally had a strong dislike of ProR. TaiChi is worth waiting for a sale on, instead - it’s a little complex to figure out, but it’s sounds fantastic. Alternatively, LX480 by Relab (also a little complex).

I really, really like Lustrous Plates. I'm thinking about upgrading to LP Surround. Not because of the surround features, but because of the updated algorithms which allegedly also benefit stereo sources.

That's how the industry wants them...

But to be just, the thread topic already starts with the usual useless and wrong question.
Instead of asking, which space illusion creating tool/procedure for which intended task, people are using...

Try the reverbs that come with your daw before splashing out on anything else. They’re usually just as good.
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

convolution wise... true, but great algorithmic reverb included with your DAW is more the exception than the rule as far as i'm concerned
The GAS is always greener on the other side!

Plus, as I'm certain has already been pointed out in this thread, some reverbs are easier to get the sound dialed in than others.

So even if the DAW reverb sounds as good, improving one's workflow is still a good a reason to make an investment in a reverb plug-in.

Not sure in this. Presonus S1 reverb is a metallic mayhem.

So putting aside the fact that I have plenty of good reverbs, does anyone here still use the Lexicon PCM bundle reverbs? I used the demo years ago so I can't do another demo, but I've always had a desire to try them again when I could afford them. With them being $234 at Best Service, that's pretty reasonable. But I know they are "old" and not sure how much they have been updated, or if they even NEED updates.

So how would you compare them to something like the Valhalla verbs (which I do NOT have)? Or other popular reverbs?

Also considering HD Cart or Tai Chai.

Again, this isn't about needing a reverb. I don't need one. This is just me getting bored and looking for a new plugin or two to spark creativity or give a slightly new flavor.

why would buying a third party plug in improve your workflow? 🤦‍♂️

Bit of a stretch, TBH. I often feel the impulse to share which I consider cool stuff as well. Admittedly, there's quite a bit off "check this out guys!" with that as well, but, I don't see that in the sense of advertising for anything. It's not like these ineffable endorsement videos by professional artists. ;)

IMO it's not a stretch. It's like saying that blue is the best color. Without describing the usecase it's useless.

Dynamic Plate Reverb (Physical Audio).

I have no words, except.. try the demo. It speaks for itself..

They sound great, but are largely unsupported. They’ll work until they won’t. Are you ok with spending $234 for that? If so, go for it - some people swear by them.

Or put that toward Cinematic Rooms Pro or TaiChi whenever they’re on sale.

Thanks. Yeah, that's my main concern. I think I can find CR and Tai and others in the marketplace here or in the forums for cheaper too. So I may just put my money in something else. Considering it's a luxury purchase and not a need, I won't be upset to go a different route, haha. It's not like I don't already have other Lexicon emulations that are pretty good :hihi:

...THIS is why such threads are good. I'd never heard of these guys before... and a sterling recommendation goes a long way.
