Arturia V Collection 9. Predictions?

The only thing that I’m interested in is the new Augmented Voices. I have all the Arturia software and hardly use any of their VA instruments anymore as I tend to reach for Uhe or TAL first. If they charge me more than $99 to update I’ll wait for a better deal or the next collection.

I'm on version 8 of Arturia's V Collection. I'm not sure if I will upgrade to version 9. None of Arturia's analog instrument emulations sound very convincing to me including the updated Jupiter 8 and the new Juno 6 plugin. Even if Arturia do rebuild their CS-80, Prophet 5 and Prophet VS instruments from scratch, I don't have a lot of faith that these new versions will sound nearly as good as the original hardware instruments.
I will still continue to use the DX7 V and the CZ V instruments. These digital instruments seem to be much easier to model and to get the sound right.

I won’t upgrade for anymore than €99. Forgetting the upgrades, 2 new emulations and 2 hybrids at €25 each sounds about right in todays market.
Maybe it’s the Cherry Audio effect.

I'm on V6 and I won't upgrade. Compared to V4-V6, the last few updates have been boring. I payed for the Jupiter V4 update, although I haven't really used it.SHall1000 wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 7:09 pm I won’t upgrade for anymore than €99. What about Analog Lab? No AL6 this time?

It seems not - Analog Lab V specifically name checked.
Arturia have always been good at letting existing users have patches from the new synths. Time was when you got the lot, now it’s just 20 or so each I think, but it does give you a limited hands-on flavour of the stuff you don’t have.

From the looks of it I won’t have any problem skipping this update, which is good for my wallet!
A bit of a weird mix of stuff this one, but always adding more value to people getting the bundle for the first time!

The Collection sure began with the name "Vintage Collection" but I think "V" stands for virtual: Modular V is virtual Modular, Jupiter-8 V is virtual Jupiter etc. If it was "Vintage" it would not make sense to call Piano V "Vintage Piano".starflakeprj wrote: Sat May 07, 2022 6:49 pmI have learned that it stands for Vintage. Why didn't they include Pigments at an earlier stage if it would be Virtual?ecasasmusic2 wrote: Sat May 07, 2022 5:55 pm"V" stands for "Virtual", not "Vintage".starflakeprj wrote: Sat May 07, 2022 5:45 pm What? Why would they include the Augmented series in the V Collection? Fake? Augmented has nothing to do with V as in Vintage. Well, we'll see..
And from the press release 2005.. (from their website)

Yeah, I do understand "vintage" piano could be the black swan
Maybe Artuira would grant both Vintage and Virtual as the correct answer, hence "V"?

Even though I’ve been not totally impressed with arturias analog emulations, I actually am interested in this update. I think they made made some good moves. The cs-80 was the one most in need of a redo (and UI!), and the prophets being the same plug-in was just annoying. Glad they sorted those out. Also I am actually really looking forward to trying the ms20. I’m on v6 still but I’ve recently been checking out the synthi v more which is quite nice so hopefully they can do something comparable with the ms20. I sill don’t think the obxa is any comparison to either the synapse or op-x II and prefer other roland emulations but I’ll probably upgrade to v9. I hope the cs-80 is at least as good as me80 this time around.

The Cherry Audio MS-20 (PS-20) doesn't sound anything like an MS-20. I have an actual MS-20 and the emulation is not even close. The filters in particular sound totally wrong. Korg's ancient VST, flawed as it is, actually does a much better job sounding like the real hardware. So I think there's room for Arturia to do a better job.kNarf_ wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 9:07 am The only addition to V9 that really interests me is the reworked CS-80. I don't really care about the MS-20 to be honest, and even if I did I could pick up the Cherry Audio version for really cheap... u-he Repro already covers my Prophet 5 needs, so the new Arturia version of that one isn't that interesting to me either.
I agree — Repro has already nailed the Prophet 5 (and Pro-One) sound, so a revamped Arturia version isn't that exciting to me. But Prophet V is one of the weakest plugins in V Collection, and I suppose they need to either update the old ones or remove them so they don't drag down the overall quality of the collection. Personally I would have preferred a revamp of Matrix-12 V — a great synth that hasn't been emulated by anyone else (and also the only one in the collection that still has low res graphics).

Although I was waiting for a "new" emulation that never done before, I'm actually glad that Arturia is not forgetting their legacy of emulations. I prefer them to update "old" emulations that they already have in their catalogue other than just adding new ones. Of course, ideally I like them to do both! Updating the "old" ones and introduce "new" ones (digital emulations included), but overall I'm happy for their direction. Updating CS-80 is a big effort and it might be more difficult than introducing a new instrument.
If the upgrade is reasonably priced, then I'm in
I liked a lot what they have done to Jupiter 8 emulation and I like it sound wise and GUI/features wise more than the TAL emulation (I don't care which one is more faithful to the original really!).

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

It's very likely that you will be in some sort of 'grace period' and receive V9 for free.Atlatnesiti wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 12:05 pm Just updated to v8 from v6 after 2 years of hiatus - 2 weeks ago…
I have sq80 as a separate purchase as well.
I wonder what my upgrade price to v9 will be?

TAL and U-He don’t do a MS20, CS-80 or Prophet VS emulation. Maybe you don’t care about better versions of those, but I sure do. I’m pretty excited. Also, Arturia is pretty good about pricing their upgrades. I’ve never felt I didn’t get good value for my money.PsychicVST wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 5:42 pm The only thing that I’m interested in is the new Augmented Voices.
