I'm trying to route windows audio (mainly firefox and winamp) into Totalmix to then output on ADAT 7/8 and into Studio One so I can listen to everything through my VSX.

I can get to setting up 7/8 as the audio source so Studio One picks it up and plays it, the problem is that headphone output on my Babyface seems to not have an option to turn off the windows audio, so I'm getting double the signal, one from Windows and again from Studio One. How can I route it so the signal flows into Studio One & THEN into my headphones instead of routing into my headphones twice ?

Is it even possible or do I need to look at additional software to do this ?

Nevermind after trial & error I found a way to get it working

Of course, as you've figured, it's possible. You just need to select each software playback channel independently in TotalMix, then set the levels of the various I/O for each software playback channel. If you want to route audio into something you'd then activate loopback for that playback channel. Tada.

It is a bit tricky at first, and you can end up with mistakes like a double signal, usually because you didn't turn the levels down on the "Main" section Vs the software playback channels. But, once you're used to it, RME's routing is light years ahead of most audio cards.

Just keep in mind the WDM Devices setting under the Hammerfall DSP settings panel, as that will enable you to route / loopback upto 8 devices in Windows programs with independent settings for each (Sadly it only allows for 1 device on Mac OS). For a program, like Winamp, it can choose its output I/O, which means you can route it independently of Firefox (which will use whatever is set, in Windows, as the system default audio device)

The mixer of my RME soundcard has been giving me also lots of headache. That's why I recently moved to another soundcard

I replaced the RME Hammerfall card with a Soundblaster AE5. I don't need hundreds of mixer Strips. Just very good stereo DA converters and very stable Asio drivers.
I struggled with is as the Soundblaster is a hardware that is targeted more towards gaming. There is a mode where you can switch it to linear and where it works fine for music production.
The Soundblaster sounds cleaner in the upper frequencies and has a lower noise floor. I connected a passive mixer to it before I directly go into the active Yamaha HS80 speakers
