I like every single one of the additions. So 149 for the upgrade sounds fine.

I’m actually scratching my head about the Augmented synths. They really don’t seem to belong in the V Collection. I would have much preferred a Theremin and JX-8P.

It sure is! They're not too hard to find and still reasonably priced too (relatively speaking). I've considered buying one on several occasions, but I'm pretty happy with the plugout.

I do like doing comparisons. It’s a good way to sort of get into the details. Like throwing iron filings in a magnetic field. I’ve already put RePro up against my Prophet 6, and it definitely holds up, but has a more confined sort of sound. I don’t mean that in a bad way. It’s actually often better in a mix with a lot going on. I’ve never tried Prophet V in this way because it never sounded good to me, though I did like what I could do in the 5/VS mode. It’s a shame we lost that, but a second in VS V and I felt like we finally got a good VS emulation.JonSolo wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 1:29 amFor the Prophet emu, I have Repro as well. I try to never compare since in MOST cases I do not have the original. I view these as a new sounds source and will enjoy what they add to my sonic palate.

Yes, I do understand that, but when you are not in Explore view and then want to go back to it when you are changing presets, it is much easier to have this button instead of clicking on the Explore tab. Hope it makes sense. You can try this and see how natural it is to expect that button near the top bar, as it is with Pigments and other instruments.aMUSEd wrote: Tue May 10, 2022 9:43 pmI think it's because the Explore tab is basically the whole browser anyway and from there you can filter by instrument/bank/type etc.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Tue May 10, 2022 6:45 pmHi Edouard,
Thank you and congrats on the release. Brilliant job by the team.![]()
I have a question regarding Analog Lab V.
Why is the icon shown in the screenshot below (Pigments) not available in Analog Lab V? I am finding it's absence a bit inconvenient. Could you please check if this was an oversight by any chance? It is possible it was not present in earlier version too, but would be good if this icon was added to open the browser when you are not in browser view.

I don't know about a Theremin. But an MKS-70 and MKS-80 (with each plugin designed after their respective programmers) would have been great. Heck, even an MKS-50 would have been better than the Augmented synths.jamcat wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 3:55 am I’m actually scratching my head about the Augmented synths. Question about the included preset packs: In their descriptions, it says they are for Analog Lab. Are they also available in the respective standalone synths? And are all of them NKS ready?

Would it though?OllieBoi wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 7:07 am I don't know about a Theremin. But an MKS-70 and MKS-80 (with each plugin designed after their respective programmers) would have been great. Heck, even an MKS-50 would have been better than the Augmented synths.
I guess a lot of folks would like V Collection 34 to have 100 near-perfect virtual vintage synthesizers in 2046. I dunno though, I think it's a bit more interesting to broaden things out.
I get the retort - "well I'm not interested in Shiny New Product so why should I pay for it"? V Collection is going like Komplete in that way, and I'm pretty happy with that. It's an amazing value bundle that hardly anyone is going to use every element of.

I was expecting an entirely separate Augmented line with its own Augmented Collection. That would have been better, because that type of synth doesn't necessarily appeal to the sort of musician that the V Collection has appealed to thus far.
For me, I don't particularly want any more VST instruments with a large footprint. I'm trying to go the opposite way with circuit modeled classic synths and physically modeled acoustic instruments.

Anyone else getting crashes on Windows 10 with the synths in stand alone mode? I didn't have the time to test inside the daw.

I was surprised it was included too, but it wasn't an unpleasant surprise - another whole line coming to V Collection? Great!jamcat wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 7:21 am I was expecting an entirely separate Augmented line with its own Augmented Collection. FWIW, the installs of Strings and Voices are pretty light - 1gb of samples for Voices, 2.5gb for Strings. They're essentially sample pools with a different front end of Pigments.

No crashes here! Can you be more specific so we can try to reproduce your crash?ctrlfreakna wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 7:31 am Anyone else getting crashes on Windows 10 with the synths in stand alone mode? I didn't have the time to test inside the daw.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I don't think it is that people don't want those shiny new synths. It's just the way V-Collection was marketed up until V8 "A suite of 28 software instruments spanning analog synths, digital synths, organs, acoustic pianos, electric pianos, and string machines - recreations of the most iconic instruments of all time." (Copy-Paste from the V8 promotional blurb). Obviously the direction has changed with V Collection 9. It's no longer about recreating old iconic keyboards, it's a general-purpose collection of virtual instruments, like NI Komplete or Rob Papen eXplorer.noiseboyuk wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 7:16 amWould it though?OllieBoi wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 7:07 am I don't know about a Theremin. Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

Yes. Installed the latest V8 and Pigments last night.ctrlfreakna wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 7:31 am Anyone else getting crashes on Windows 10 with the synths in stand alone mode? I didn't have the time to test inside the daw.
Wanted to checkout the patches for the new synths in Analog Lab and play with pigments, since it was too resource intensive on my old PC.
Both Pigments and Analog Lab crashed to desktop after playing with them for a few minutes.
I'll have another play later and see if there is any thing that triggers it repeatedly.
