Plus this initial sale made me get more and addition with the rest I spend around 1000 bucks on Arturia in those two weeks. A little more customer friendliness with this sudden update (grace period) would be more than fair here. Don’t you think?
Feel for you but the horse is dead.
The horse isn't dead until the last Karen has spoken to the manager or I get a refund on my money and then rebuy it all on a substantial discount during summer-black friday-whatever sale, which will make Arturia "loose" even more money (If we all were really to believe in companies loosing money by selling discounted overpriced plugins in the first place).
The horse is dead here dude. Complain where it counts. You want sympathy here and your sympathy quota is over-extended.

By this measure I should be getting the update for like $49 because i've had V Collection since v4 plus own a bunch of other Arturia stuff including hardware. Just doesn't work that way for them.
So... first off: not everyone making music defaults to a dude. Crazy fact here:
there are women making music too and we also know how to use the internet (shocking, I know!)

And a tldr to the story: no, the horse is alive and well, and thx to the nice Arturia support (tbf here, they are indeed 1000x more friendly in their communication than the folks over at IK Multimedia [and yes I would have said the same after their first replies yesterday which weren't solving the issue]), they did offer some form of grace period, also given that I gave them a whole grand of bucks in just two weeks and the case is now solved to all sides satisfaction I guess.

Since at least one person from Arturia is reading this: I can only imagine how someone feels who bought V8 a few days ago for a full price and is now asked for another big couple of bucks. Be like other companies and offer a fair grace period pls! :)

cheers

I know I'm being That Guy right now, but honestly, I'm not hearing anything in this that the V3 version couldn't do just as well. In fact, the Blade Runner specific patches from Nori Ubukata for V3 sound, imho, better than the patches demo'd here, and those can't even be used in V4.

(Nori's BR patches are an add-on sound bank in the Arturia shop, not the factory library, btw. I wonder if with the release of V4, they've removed those older sound banks from the shop, though).

Taken purely on its own terms, nice vid. Taken in a thread discussing V4 specifically, which it is... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hello Vangelis, nice to see you here in the forum :D
There is a certain special sound, so I couldn't say "sounds like any other plugin".
However, we probably won't find anyone here who has a real CS80 and can compare it with the plugin.
Apart from many posts regarding the price, I would rather read other opinions about the plugins. E.g. Prophet V vs U-He, Augmented Voices etc

Venus Theory made an overview on the new stuff. Seems like for some I have to invest into a new computer as well if I want to go hard on them:

I am with Venus here, the new "augmented" ones do seem odd in the "V" collection, but so do the pianos tbh.

If someone missed the sale on V8 at 299 and then bought at 499 days before the new one came, then yes I agree, there should be a grace period (not including those who got in during the sale obviously, since it would be basically the same price anyways).

I agree, it sounds ok, but I don't see anything too special compared to other synths that could do CS-80 sounds just as well.

trusampler wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 3:02 pm Which MPE controller do you guys recommend for CS80 v4?
It really depends on how much you care about "normal keys" (like a CS-80 has).

The Hydrasynth is the only standard keyboard with polyphonic pressure (and a ribbon) in the stores today (actually, the just released Waldorf Iridium is another one, although it costs twice as much).
Hydrasynth Deluxe would be my absolute first choice if I had the space.
Hoping for some new MPE controllers with standard keys being released in the near future.

I have two Sensel Morph, and although they're awesome for XYZ movement and can definitely do awesome stuff with a CS-80 plugin, velocity reponse is far from optimal, and if you have muscle memory for (more or less complex) chord voicings relying on the 1/2 inch raised black keys as tactile points of reference on the sides of your fingers, that goes pretty much out of the window.
A little better with a Seaboard Rise thanks to the overall bigger keys and slightly rised black keys, but still a very different experience from a normal keyboard (which is why the Osmose was designed the way it is).

happy you got it sorted.
Faith in Arturia is a bit restored :)

One of us has been here almost 20 years. One has been here several months. You don't need to try to womansplain to me that there are women making music. I know many.

Crazy fact here: I call anyone dude. I know women who do the same. Get over yourself already. Maybe try less outrage for a change.

Hmmm....wonder if the joystick on my Cobalt-8 would work with the stick on the VS. Need to try that.

I don't know... I see it more as "special" versions of Pigments that have a special focus on strings or voices. The only thing I find strange is the very high CPU consumption. With Augmented Voices up to over 50% (with my, admittedly not so recent i7).

Yeah the cpu usage is strange. Pigments isn't so bad, and typically multi-sample sound sources don't use lots of cpu.

I started working on this two weeks ago when I was trying to decide whether the $99USD upgrade price from V Collection 5 -> 8 was worth it, but I've updated it for V Collection 9: Arturia V Collection Version Comparison. It's a work sheet that lists every version of the collection side-by-side and indicates which products were new to a given release ('n') or which older products were grandfathered in from a prior collection ('o'). There's also a short accompanying article on the blog with some random trivia I encountered while researching past versions.
LoveEnigma18 wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 9:59 amAnd does anyone know if the previous preset banks Synthopedia (800 presets) and Patchworks (700 presets) are also included in V Collection 9? I assume it would only be the case if you had V Collection 7 (Synthopedia), then upgraded to 8 (Patchworks) and then upgraded to 9 (14 new banks). Perhaps someone who did not have VC7/8 earlier and now has VC9 could please check in their owned preset banks (Analog Lab->Store) and let me know?
I would like confirmation on this as well, although I THINK they are not included with new purchases of the new collection. I currently have Synthopedia and Patchworks marked as unknown status in my worksheet. My only evidence that they're not included so far is that the Details page for the collection says there are "14 exclusive sound banks" but if you combine the banks listed on the overview page with PatchWorks and Synthopedia that number would come to 16. They show up as owned in my Analog Lab store tab, but I own V Collection 8, which lists both of them in the ASC.

An unexpected but welcome addition to the CS-80 is the new Pan controls. The sub-osc (LFO) can modulate pan now, including the additional scaling from modwheel and/or aftertouch. And even more directly, there's a new Slider to simply offset the panning between the two Oscillators -- very cool! At maximum, it hard-pans the two Oscs to far Left / Right.

So they did away with the old per-voice 'multi' mode controls (which worked for panning effects, but was far less immediate) and added new controls to the front-panel for very quick, musical, dynamic panning effects. Very nicely done, imo!
