For those who've missed it: reViSiT now has midi out (you can use either a midi loopback or direct midi out to VST host). The first working VSTi tracker usable for composing in a VST host ;).

I'm not sure if this is the first..

Madtracker http://www.madtracker.org/main.php and ScaleTracker http://www.metamacro.com/awezoom/skale/ also support MIDI out and they even support ReWire !

anyway, it looks like a nice app though.

midi out? ft2 had that. octamed had that. etc :)

I'm pretty sure he meant a PLUGIN.. FT, MT, Skale, and Octamed are not plugins, they're standalones.

Yes, I know he meant that :) I just "bashed" the topic kinda :)

btw
skale works as a plugin as well. (vsti)

Actually, Skale can be used as a VSTi nowadays.

Skale has no VST midi out. Only midi out via loopback/interface (unless I've missed some update since 0.80). And that VST "integration" is... well... not good enough. It does have VST midi in (even though I - personally - have no use for it), but that features massive latency and jitter.

Also, Skale is suprisingly heavy to run as a VSTi. reViSiT is much nicer to run since it behaves more like a plugin integrated with a VST host rather than a standalone application bridged with a VST host. I guess you can't expect too much from an application that is developed as a standalone application and then adapted to run as a VSTi.

Skale has a nice FT2 touch though. But given the rate of progress shown so far in the Skale project, I would say that reViSiT will become more functionally useful than Skale in a matter of months (even though it is more of a IT clone). And that while keeping in mind that Skale has had _years_ to develop to where it stands now. Of course, integration with other VST hosts were never a primary objective, but still...

I'd probably agree. Still, all I want is a pattern editor to open instead of piano roll. When I choose to. That'd rock. In an ordinary sequencer I mean, not as a vst plugin. Maybe an editor plugin if those would exist :)

Yeah, that would be so sweet :).
