Why is "Karma Chameleon" regarded as Synth-Pop?

Almost all entries on Discogs.com mention Culture Club's Karma Chameleon as being Synth-Pop.
This confuses me as i have a hard time recognising any synth in the song.

Human league, Madonna, Depeche Mode, Yazoo, New order etc. etc.
In those tracks the synth is almost the main instrument. Totally different from Karma Chameleon.

Am i missing something?

I wouldn’t trust info on Discogs. I was in a band that recorded a small run mini lp on vinyl only, master wasn’t kept so would have been recorded over.
25 years later I noticed Discogs selling an ‘original CD copy’ :)

Because war, war is stupid and people are stupid
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

New Romantic is the proper name of the style (according to wikipedia)

There are synths on it, but guitars are more prominent, the harmonica, base and drums are "real".
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

Boy George is synthetic?

I’m guessing it’s because the band, in general, is often lumped in with synth pop bands from the time.
