You mean other than the Dev posting a few post up about what's about to come, going VST3 etc?
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Wouldn't it be cool if, one day, they make a VST/AU/AAX host with configurable controller that you just load a synth like RAPID into it and viola! - instant hardware system where every parameter onscreen is accessible on the controller? Maybe such a thing already exists and I'm just not aware of it?
If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

Post

Not a host for any plugin like you mentioned, but that reminded me of Omnisphere's hardware synth integration.

This one, maybe?

Yes, like that, although I was envisioning a 49 or 61 note keybed attached to it. Still, that is a start.

I agree with this post. Parawave why are we waiting so long for an update? Year and a half is way too long IMHO!

Parawave - please can you provide your customers with an update/video etc of the items you are working on.

Post

Who cares? You can't sell it so you have only one option - wait for the update. As I heard, next update will be "truly unique" :)

It's way better to make one controller for each synth, so you can sell more than one :D

Abandonware to me means they've stopped supporting it. I don't get why people need new bells and whistles on an instrument if that instrument already sounds good and does the job for which it is intended.

more more more more it's a cultural thing i guess atm. I can see if it stops working on your computer or a new computer etc.

Post

Why Moog, Dave Smith and Roland has more than one synth that “does the job”? Because of evolution, I think… Any software synth can literally push the boundaries with each second update, in theory.

Rapid has good workflow, good sound engine, awesome effects and fantastic optimization. That’s why people want to see all possible bells and whistles in it :) and…new features.

Yeh, there are so many great VSTS that haven't had any real updates for a long time (other than M1 as they had to!) stuff like Soundtoys for example...still great software, still use it ever day! You buy the software 'as it is' when you buy it- anything else is a bonus (and Rapid has had a lot of free updates...)

Here's some "everything used to be better" rhetoric:

Due to the very frequent updates of their operating systems (Windows) and especially their apps on their cell phones, people are simply used to perma-updating and think that just because there is not an update of their plugins every few weeks, the product is abandoned. But that doesn't have to be the case! Especially since tiny updates are sometimes only done to attract attention, I'm even happy to be spared from those annoying microupdates.

I once started with the C64/Atari, the OS was in ROM and unchangeable. No updates ever. Unbelievable what peace this has radiated :-) Without the Internet, what you bought was final. It was hardly ever updated, maybe only every few years. At that time, software producers paid much more attention to quality (more precisely, they had to pay more attention, because there wasn't the option of a quick fix on customers' computers).

This said and back to Parawave: it seems VST3 is coming, so I would advise to stay relaxed. Just keep making music and creating patches ;-)

@ReleaseCandidate - Thanks for telling me about Sound-Force. Their products seem very useful.

Not Rapid, but I just read that there will be update for Sylenth1 (vst3 etc.). I really thought that it was abandoned, because no updates after the beginning of 2020. 1.5 years for Rapid feels quite long time too. Should there be updates every year? Maybe not, but it's quite common to get frequent updates (Serum, Falcon, Pigments etc.) or at least something during a year.

Post

Parawave released in the past at least annually an update for Rapid.
They are a bit overdue now, if one wants to put it that way, but they gave an update here in this thread not long ago, so just be patient. They are still working on Rapid and they did not went bankrupt.

The example with Sylenth by Lazarus is also quite good. 1,5 years no updates and then the announcement by Lennart that he will release one sometime during this year.

u-he is also not known for constantly updating their synths with mini-updates unlike some others like Xfer.

So, Parawave is not alone at the slower-updates front.
I think we all got used to a constant stream of updates due to other software and devices.

Monthly Windows and Android updates, with smaller and/or more important security updates in between or regular updates for Chrome or Firefox, then a new update for the Smart TV or entertainment/navigation system update for your car. People just get used to that over time...
10 years ago and longer, it was rather unusual to have such a stream of updates as we have it today, and the software was not more flawed by this pace of released updates than today.
