Thanks for that, I hadn't thought of that. Something new to experiment with. I need to download the manual.Stefken wrote: ↑Sun May 15, 2022 5:58 pmThis might help ( text + video).

Korg MS 20 V Sidechain feature: I don't know if other synths have this feature, but this is the first one I have ever seen, and it completely derailed my review video. I couldn't stop messing with sending my voice to it. Check it out!
A nice short video showing that this thing is out of control!

A heaping dose of outrageously goofy synth tracks, scores and chiptunes.

Great video! Looks like you are having a lot of fun with this feature.Norrin_Radd wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 10:47 am Korg MS 20 V Sidechain feature: I don't know if other synths have this feature, but this is the first one I have ever seen, and it completely derailed my review video. Unfortunately, this feature is not supported in FL Studio. Does anyone know an easy workaround for it?
I have Kushview Element, which, if I remember correctly, I had got something similar but not sure if it will allow to unlock this Korg MS20 V feature. I will give a try when I am at home, but looking for suggestions in the meantime.

Oh man, that's rough! I wonder why FL Studio doesn't let the sidechain through? Does it just not have sidechains period?

I guess Korg MS20 V needs audio sidechain or something, but FL Studio doesn't support such sidechains. It's mentioned in Arturia's FAQs too that FL Studio is not a supported DAW for this feature.Norrin_Radd wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 12:40 pm Oh man, that's rough! How's the new emulations ? This caught my interest I've always heard from various forum posts that this bundle is more "spiritual" than actual emulations but I guess they are upping their efforts with new updates, which makes this more interesting as it's quite interesting hardware they are emulating, such as Prophet VS, CS-80, and many more.... I also think they have the right idea in how they are adding mod-matrix and some other tools to these old units, just bring in some of the quality of life improvements that comes with computers. How does the new stuff stack up against Repro/Diva in terms of raw sound quality/emulation quality ?

So, yeah, the external signal processor tracks pitch and here is some inspiration on the actual ms-20 how you can use that signal processor.

This is one part of a series on the ms-20. It s interesting to actually watch the whole series.

To start with, I'm a big fan of Arturia's V-collection, so many classic synths I will never see let alone play.... and they sound very very good.
I guess we all have our favourites due to the sound or maybe the emulation is slightly more authentic and I already liked the Prophet and CS-80, but the new versions are fantastic. The sound is more involving and interesting. Even simple patches seem to have greater depth and are more engaging to play. Nice one Arturia!
but...
I have to say after putting the MS-20 up against my KLC MS-20 I'm not so impressed, rather disappointed if I'm really honest. It can sound cutting and raw but just doesn't have the character and sweetness in the resonance/filter. I spent quite a bit of time tweaking but it's just not there. I also had an issue on some patches with the modulation ever present and couldn't dial it out as I can on the KLC MS-20 - maybe it models the hardware more accurately?

hmmm, what you typically do is put an emulation up against the hardware.Hemmick Reef wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 8:14 am I have to say after putting the MS-20 up against my KLC MS-20 I'm not so impressed
I have the hardware here. The KLC was always disappointing and imo the reason why Korg has endorsed the arturia one. No way they would do that if they had a successfull emulation imo.
The arturia emulation is not perfect but it captures the soul of the ms-20 pretty good (and adds extra's).

Interesting, so how does the MS-20 V generally compare to your hardware MS-20. Where does it differ?Stefken wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 3:19 pmhmmm, what you typically do is put an emulation up against the hardware.Hemmick Reef wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 8:14 am I have to say after putting the MS-20 up against my KLC MS-20 I'm not so impressed

I admit the KLC MS-20 does sound cleaner, maybe I just prefer that sound?

OK, one for the tech-heads here. On another corner of the internet, I was involved in a discussion on the CS-80's sawtooth waveform, which is apparently known for having a unique notch at the start. A hardware module from Braids emulates this, and you can see the visual representation (and hear what it sounds like) right at the very start of this video:

I've put the oscilloscope on both v3 and v4 of the Arturia, and there's nothing like this notch here. This seems very odd to me - surely the waveform is where you'd start with any emulation? Curious to hear from Arturia or those well versed in such things make of it.

That's the kind of posts I would like to see more often here, when it comes to emulations.Stefken wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 3:19 pmhmmm, what you typically do is put an emulation up against the hardware.Hemmick Reef wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 8:14 am I have to say after putting the MS-20 up against my KLC MS-20 I'm not so impressed

Sure, it's just an opinion, but, emulations can only be measured by how close they come to the original, obviously.
