Need more info.. I just tried it on a 4 bar melody generator and no problems.. (Win 10)
OS version? What kind of phrase? How long was the phrase? Can you consistently reproduce?

I could not reproduce this crash in the standalone version. It is usually very difficult to reproduce issues with harmonization because there are so many combinations of input notes. I'd be grateful if you could send me an .rcCOMP file which I could use for reproducing this bug. This way I could fix this very quickly.
Thanks,
Attila

Hi Attila, Thanks very much. Attached is a comp file. Nothing fancy. C major, 120 bpm 4 bars using a melody generator (but it doesn't matter if I use markov melody generator either). If I select the phrase and choose auto harmonize (with add track selected), the program just hangs. I'm running windows 11. This doesn't happen if I use RC as a vst.

Hi Dan!
Thank you. This was an empty composition file. I expected a melody phrase in the track.
I added a Melody Generator but it did not hang.
Which option hangs: harmonization by rules, or 'basic functional'?
It is highly recommended (well, almost mandatory) to convert the phrase to 'absolute notes' before harmonization so that the notes do not depend on the master track chords. Otherwise unexpected transpositions (by octave) may occur.
If you are using rules, make sure the master track scale and the rules match. Minor scale rules should be used for minor scale...
Thanks,
Attila

Sorry Attila,
Here is the composition file with a Markov phrase rendered to absolute notes. The program hangs with either option: Basic Functional or Based on Rules. Not really sure what else to do...

Hi Attila,
Just a quick note to say a fresh install seems to have solved the problem. No doubt that I screwed something up prior to the re-installation. Anyway, thanks for the help!

Hi Dan,
thanks for your help in resolving this crash. I think the chords or scale library may have been corrupted (e.g. vital chords deleted). I am sure I could reproduce this if I had all your Documents/RapidComposerV4 files. What I don't understand is why it worked in the plug-in...
Thanks!
