I love his 'Blues' album personally, but you can't really go wrong.
I'm also hoping to get the Monterey Pop Festival DVD boxed set with his guitar + lighter fluid antics.

yes, electric ladyland
such a stoned vibe
when i bought the CD a few years ago I had forgotten all about the tune of going down to the sea and breathing under water etc. people used to skip over tha cut to get to the 'good stuff' on the 2nd side -- funny how tastes change -- that cut really sets the rest of that side up

The height of good hi-fi in 1968.
Play two sides without having to get up and turn it over - then just lift 'em off, flip and stick 'em back on again.

me too
mine also stopped at the end and would then go back to the begginning of the vinyl - if you were "absent minded" enough
you could listen to the same thing for hours

I've been listening to Hendrix since the early 70s. And it's still Electric Ladyland.

Hendrix was a guitarist locked into a very particular style, that worked great for him, but i remember seeing a clip of him backing Dusty Springfield and he was just awful , just didnt listen at all to her singing and she looked like she was trying so hard to look hip, which of course she was in her own music but it was totally fake, but i loved Band of Gypsies, my little brother stole it from me and sold it, thats why i will never forget it

Back in 86 or 87, I got these vinyl albums (double) called "Homage to Hendrix". Live recordings. Had a French impressionist's painting of Hendrix on the cover. Can't remember where it was recorded tho. (Might have been Winterland) Warner Bros. label.
The 'Hendrix Society' (or whoever the hell it was) said it was an unauthorized release. The "recording quality wasn't up to their standards."
Unfortunately, I don't have the album anymore. Haven't been able to find it anywhere, since.
It was the best live Hendrix. By far.
It had an electric version of 'Hear my train a-commin' on it, that was KILLER!
Maybe somone here remembers this album, and can tell me if these recordings have been re-released with a different album name?
