Underrated? He is literally the most succesful singer, songwriter and musician of all time. People have been crazy about him for the last 60 years.
What I meant is he's recognized as a very influential bass player and one of the top songwriters. He's never in the best singers lists.

Maybe I'll ask Paul, who supposedly lives in a shithole (I myself don't share that view of London), and see if he's just rich enough to buy me a new tube condenser mike. Or, seriously now, is there also a plug-in emulation of a tube condenser mike that I could find? I would think so since there is supposedly a plug in emulation of a Neumann.
And I DO realize that whomever offered that statement about London included a flashing smiley face at the end of it, so perhaps it was said in jest.
All in all, I think the tube condenser mike does seem like a good idea, and I appreciate the suggestion.

Well, i like Paul and the beatles in general, but in a list where Bob Dylan in considered to be the 7th best singer, you cant take that serious.
What a joke.

yeah its pretty random shit. lennon was great but as a singer Mccarntey was better. and Thom Yorke could been in there easily if it was serious. feels like a virtue signaling list

You're missing the point, McCartney is acknowledged as one of the best singers of all time, not only in this list and why wouldn't he be ? He absolutely deserves it, monkberry moon delight !

WTH? "a virtue signalling list?" A popularity list definitely*, but, i have no idea what you mean by virtue signalling in this case.

*had a good laugh when previous poster said Bob Dylan at number 7! That's an even bigger WTH. I doubt i could rate him at 700. Paul is a good vocalist but i don't even think he deserves a spot above 50. Rolling Stone magazine lost the way years ago.

edit: on topic, yes, Neumann mic, close mic'd, and hack off low and hi end to get the "radio effect," McCartneys' voice, as all already mentioned.
