Hi there.. its My righthere.
I'm a Cubase Sx user an di'm intrested to do the jump of having mor ethen one computer.. have lets say 3 computer , one main that will have the main host music software with some small vsti and plugins and have other support the big big soundlibraries and other Vst such Afrolatin etc..
If anybody experienced with Fx Teleport, what would be a good setup and wich Vst Host such V-stack should i use for this matter? And is Fx very reliable? Does it really work because if yes.. one great thing will be getting rid of the wires.. less wires.
Thank you for you inside

I use FX teleport on 2 computers. It works perfect. You have Cubase so you don't need any other host.
What you need is a NIC card in both computers and just connect them. If you have win XP you are set for fun.
Installation of FX-T is easy. You just need to install each VST you want to use on both computers.

FX Teleport has been working fine here for a few weeks now. I'd suggest investing in some gigabyte ethernet cards, as you might suffer drop outs otherwise. Latency can build up... Annoying at times, but in theory ... that's how it's gotta be.
Forget V-Stack...

Megabit connections are very expensive. I use 10/100 connections and yes, latency is high. Never bothered me, Not really suited for doing live recordings, but FX-T never claimed to be for that. You don;t even need a soundcard for your second computer.

No, you can use Firewire instead of ethernet, is faster than 10/100 slower than 100/1000 (or is it 10/1000), with fx teleport v.1.2 it actually works as it`s supposed to, But if you want to feel safe = 100/1000

How are you doing today!
Its My an di jst got your answers... thank you very much for taking the time. Appreicate. So let me recap here if I do undestand all o have to do is installing Fx teleport in both computers right?
- And then Install especially either the Vsti or Vst plugins that i want to access in the second computer.
-And in my main computer, i'm running Cubase Sx with WinXp and both computer are connected to teh Linksys Hub G 4.4 Ghz. Is that alright? Or should i get thet 100/1000 ethernet card to be safer?
- And how many Vst or plugins can you open in the second computer that my main computer will access?
If there is question that i'm forgetting, please feel free to fill me in.
Thank you so much

Yes, you install a Host version of your host computer, and a server version on your server computer. At that point, you install your plugins over on the server computer... The host computer will see these plugins and make 'wrappers' that will be placed in an "FX Teleport" folder in your VST Plugins folder. You could try your current setup, see if you are happy with the results, but if you are having problems... GB networking is 'highly suggested'.
Your server computer can run as many VSTs as it can handle, just like anything else.
Cheers.

Have a look on the FX web site and try the demo just to make sure. If you already have a faster hub you don't need to downgrade to 10/100. Some advice though, try to keep a network connection for your FX-T away from a large network hub. Not because of any thing other than heavy traffic between the other computers on the network may slow your hub down. 4GB hub however sound pretty fast to me and I din't think you will be effected by it though. Best to run the demo in any case.

I really think you need to check the spec of your hub, btw. I'm not sure what you've got but '4.4Ghz' makes no real sense to me in the context of a hub.
BTW You actually want a network switch rather than a hub, there's a difference.

Just for clarity:
Mbps = Megabits per second
10/100 = Typical Ethernet, 10Mbps or 100Mbps
10/100/1000 = the 1000 is Gigabit, i.e. 1000 Mbps
Gigabit is starting to be fairly common. Your NIC (Ethernet) cards on both ends, and any intervening switches or routers, would have to support it to get those speeds.
USB 1.1 = 40Mbps
Firewire = 400Mbps
USB 2.0 = 480Mbps
Firewire800 = 800Mbps
As drinelli said, you can sometimes do typical TCP/IP networking over USB or Firewire. I assume TeleportFX supports it, it usually requires some drivers/software like FireNet:

I would say his 4.4 GHz figure probably refers to the unit being a wireless device, and that's the frequency band it operates in. Then again, I could easily be mistaken.whyterabbyt wrote:I really think you need to check the spec of your hub, btw. Usb ? I think I read somewhere in a rewiew that it was impossible to use usb, not for TCP/IP but using FX teleport with it, my adwise stay away from usb, What firewire goes just know that I did not install any drivers for Firewire, to get it running. But I first got it running good with Fx Teleport version 1.2, and this under Windows XP, and consider this if you are using Cubase Sx, "Cubase SX 3 Upgrade" The Freeze function has become very good indeed in this, and is cheaper than a new computer+fx and easier using in some cases, if you like me am a bit on the lazy side you also could get tired of turning on all these computers each time you want to work on that piece with 8 * z3ta`s, but if you have very silent computers that are strong cpu wise, and you can make music listening to them, If you have the comps, and you have the ports try out the demo of fx teleport, and try working with it for 14 days, and if it still is what you are looking for, then do it. I am talking out of exsperience here, I am not trying to put Max out of business, I just do not think it is right for everybody, It is a piece of software making hightech easy, that not all can get used to using, I could not, and I did not see it right away. These were my words, no offence ment.
