Very weighty oscillator, creamy filter, semi modular and nice sequencing options for 250 bucks.

Hmmmm...that's a competitive price. I like some of it - reasonable fiter sound, the random features - especially the way it can randomise the osc in an arp etc. I particularly like that it outputs midi from its arp/sequencer stuff - that's really not common, especially in a budget synth. But 1 osc + 1 VCA + 1 LFO really limits it. Some of the sequencer stuff kind of mitigates that, but have to say that overall - it just looks fiddly. Way too much button pressing with no kind of visual clue to get anything interesting IMO. And it's marketed as kinda modular, kinda standalone. Consequently doesn't fit into either. I'm not sure modular buffs would want its sequencer etc, as they'll have far better already. And standalone buffs like me will think it's too limited.

Competition to things like Crave, Neutron etc but too small IMO. It's a weird synth that just seems confused to me. I like some of its sound but not anything that goes wow. Even its audio mod FM - started off with good FM, then it went flat once the LFO goes into audio rate - very disappointing (which makes me think it must be a digital LFO). I kinda expected some creamy monster filter thing from Pittsburgh...but it really isn't. It's OK, just OK.

I really want to like it. But it leaves me flat and just wanting to like it.

Hmm, not really following you there. I think the filter and osc sounds particulary good. And yes, it is an 1 osc instrument, but the TB-303 proves that you can make plenty of good tunes with just 1 osc. Also for the price, i guess you can t expect more.
They also apply a modulation sequence to the osc and the filter thus constantly changing the texture, which in my view greatly multiplies the possibilities of that one osc.
As for 1 lfo and enveloppe. As i understand it, the multitool hosts another enveloppe, lfo and randomiser.

Mention of the 303 just shows up what a vanilla filter this thing has. Yeah a 303 is extremely limited but has a very distinctive and characterful sound - not to everyone's taste but you have to admit it has its own character and a very strong one at that. This just sounds like any 24dB filter that you get...anywhere. I might like it more if it had some kind of 12dB/Oct filter as these tend to be more characterful often (Korg MS, Yamaha CS, Minilogue, Wasp etc). In fact Behringer show how an incredibly limited synth like the Wasp can be a huge character purely because of its filter - I bought it specifically because of that and not disappointed - it's probably way more limited than East Beast but sounds bigger. Similar price, less features but sounds much much better - and 2 oscillators.

The oscillators - meh. No better or worse than most synths. I think they just need to decide is it a module or is it a standalone. I get that a standalone can have CV inputs and be a nice thing to have - I like my semi-modular jobbies. But this thing is just too cheap and limited. It definitely is capable of some interesting sequencer stuff...but I know I would hate piddling around with that godawful interface for it. The interface is what really lets it down IMO.

Not that I would buy one, but I think it’s pretty cool, especially for the price. It would be a nice little complement to something like a Beatstep/Keystep, or a Minibrute 2, etc.

it's a pocket money addition for modular.
considering the different parts, ive paid twice that for a sequencer. and the sequencer here, is different to all my seqs, has some cool tricks imo.
so im looking at buying it as a little add on sequencer, so i get a half price sequencer, with free oscillator and filter and other little bits too.

on its own, it seems very capable in the video, not every sound is great, but there are some that considering its a one oscillator synth, sound pretty massive!

About 6 months ago I said I was done buying analog monosynths .... but I'm really tempted by this one.

yup, lots of little bits thrown in, which to add to a rack, could easily hit a grand or more.
