Confession: I can't use ugly plugins.

And I'd work that out in about 2 seconds if I turned it up full and the sidechain stopped working. Even when you mentioned it, it seemed a weird thing to have in a compressor, so I'd be ready for it to do something else and what you describe makes perfect sense._leras wrote: Tue May 24, 2022 2:02 pmAha... well you see it actually only filters the amount of the side chain input that is triggering the compressor and not the signal itself. So it reduces pumping a kick might cause. I know that because I read what it did.![]()

You are at it again, please calm down. I was only describing my own design choices, compared to recently mentioned SSL plugins. And obviously I at least can show my design works, compared to your self-entitlement?_leras wrote: Tue May 24, 2022 9:32 pmI'm honestly not sure you're in a great position to be criticising SSL GUIs.Aleksey Vaneev wrote: Tue May 24, 2022 5:54 pm There's problem with SSL-alike interfaces: they are over-filled with numbers and hairlines around knobs, looks a bit heavy.

All Voxengo plugins are updated from time to time, and already none of the plugins look the way they looked in 2008. Not sure which "website" you are referring to, which hosts "old stuff".ghettosynth wrote: Tue May 24, 2022 7:35 pm If I'm not mistaken, you introduced that basic style around 2008, no? At any rate, your newer knobs (and colors) look a bit better, but I think the old stuff that clutters your web site un-updated probably contributes to the perception.

Hate to break up your one-man party here, but you're super wrong, _leras.

Chill out, man, you seem inordinately invested in this. Aleksey has already taken notice of your feedback and will address the points at his own discretion. I'm not sure why you care about it as though your life depended on it.
You don't like them plugins, fine, don't buy them, share your thoughts in a concise and polite manner, use something else and move on.

And, it has the same "basic style" knobs with the weird ass parameter column, as I was saying. Look, people don't have to listen to other people's opinions, that's certainly their choice. But, they don't get to tell other people what their opinion is either. That "basic knob style" is what I'm talking about. It looks goofy to me.jamcat wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 6:30 am Hate to break up your one-man party here, but you're super wrong, _leras.

This isn't a new thought and it isn't just a party of one.

"Maybe they are afraid to revisit the looks because of good bussines?"
I'm going to be honest here, I don't want to talk to vendors about this, I wish that they would just butt out of these threads and let us chat about what WE think is ugly or not.

Also, here is impulse modeler today

And here's impulse modeler from 2005

Now, here's what I wrote "but I think the old stuff that clutters your web site un-updated probably contributes to the perception."
Case closed.

There's a list of colour scheme presets in the settings menu. The one you're showing from the front page is the Gray colour scheme. The one I showed is the Black variant. That's what it shows on the download page._leras wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 7:28 amWell... this version on the front page of his website.jamcat wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 6:30 am Hate to break up your one-man party here, but you're super wrong, _leras.

But I happily stand corrected. It has clearly been improved since that earlier version - but still clings onto some of that early design... err.... design language and inspiration.

Here's pristine space today:Aleksey Vaneev wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 7:45 am I was assuming you are referring to plugins. These older apps do not show up to the visitors often, no influence. But maybe they are what some people cherry-pick to prove a point?

Part of me wants to just call you superficial and or shallow.careyletendre wrote: Thu May 19, 2022 5:59 am I just can't do it; no matter how good it sounds.
Hangs head in shame.
But I really struggle to use anything by Unfiltered Audio, since they look so horrible (to me they look like the design drawing version of something that will be replaced with pretty). I force myself sometimes, since they sound great, but I have to be in the mood to put myself through using them.
Other than that, having been using plugins for over 20 years even today's ugly ones are better than some of those back when VST was kicking off/
