PhasePlant '2' with a full suite of fx for 99$ is an utter bargain, it is one of the most powerful synths available and is a joy to use.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

most other reverbs cost less than $50 on sale though, and they have 4 of them, thats $200 so it is quite a lot, i definitely prefer when companies do sales, sales are a separate thing to plugins being made free, i dont think sales can ever be a bad thing that would justify compensation although its still annoying when you bought something for mores28 wrote: Tue May 24, 2022 5:52 pm This is why I love Valhalla's business model. Hardware is often just the same (although not so much now with all the parts shortages) - premium prices on launch then a year latter in a black Friday sale massive reductions. That's just life!j wazza wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 8:13 am although its still annoying when you bought something for more
Everyone likes a bargain, and even better a 'no brainer' (although its amazing how much stuff I bought in 'no brainier' sales that I never use...so in many ways it is more of a waste of money that buying something 'full price' that you actually use!)
It is worth noting however that in the software industry it is common to price something ridiculously high and then 'slash' 85% of the price (to what it is actually worth) and make people think they are getting bargains. I do respect the Valhalla's and UHE's of this world that have a predictable and fair pricing model, but most don't.

i think thats a good thing as people who are happy to pay full price get it straight away, if people want to save they wait, but 85% is a bit much, and yeah i usually avoid 'no brainer' plugins now, they usually dont sound as good as what i already have, and id rather pay 100 for 1 great plugin than 100 for 5 ok onesSLiC wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 8:21 amHardware is often just the same (although not so much now with all the parts shortages) - premium prices on launch then a year latter in a black Friday sale massive reductions. my point still stands - consistency means no one feels sore about it - which some ppl here do as they spent money on now free products.vanerio wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 5:56 amPhasePlant costs 99$ right now (2 valhalla reverbs) and has Lifetime free updates (valhalla does not offer lifetime free updates really). So I think Kilohearts made a very good move that some users do not seem to understand or feel grateful about.s28 wrote: Tue May 24, 2022 5:52 pm This is why I love Valhalla's business model. I also think it's a good move, but i am getting nice free plugins having not paid for them, i'd probably feel differently if the shoe was on the other foot.

again, my point still stands imo - good value plugins that don't radically change in price or become free means a happy user base, from what i feel and see at least.
sales are beyond what i said and i have never purchased all their reverbs personally, i only own vintage verb, for around 10 years now so that's $50 for me, reverb wise.

but you also get people who are annoyed at companies cos they never do sales, or even loyalty discounts etc, or just about the price being too high regardless of price changess28 wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 2:55 pmagain, my point still stands imo - good value plugins that don't radically change in price or become free means a happy user base, from what i feel and see at least.j wazza wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 8:13 ammost other reverbs cost less than $50 on sale though, and they have 4 of them, thats $200 so it is quite a lot, i definitely prefer when companies do sales, sales are a separate thing to plugins being made free, i dont think sales can ever be a bad thing that would justify compensation although its still annoying when you bought something for mores28 wrote: Tue May 24, 2022 5:52 pm This is why I love Valhalla's business model. its true that avoiding radical price changes will mean less of the particular customers who are annoyed about that, but also lots of people like price reductions cos they get things cheaper, im not sure what you mean that sales are beyond what you said, if youre only talking about making paid plugins free, thats quite rare anyway although it does happen (soundwise, cakewalk, cant think of any others), so most companies have the business model of not suddenly making things free
I have no problems with valhallas business model, but i think everyone should now take kilohearts' lead and make paid plugins free, then compensate people who bought them with even more free stuff
