Peter has said here that it won't be extended unless it gets to 3000 (which at that point it doesn't need to be extended)

I absolutely hate hardware string machines. I'd rather listen to someone stepping on a cat's tail so I'll pass on those two.

The T-03 and Minimod I don't need since neither are among my favorite synths and I have dedicated emulations of them already. I'll pass on the Bully as well.

Even if we hit 33, I won't install those 5 instruments. But I will download and back them up just in case I want to install them in the future.

I wonder if Peter got a bit ahead of his skis when he originally said it will not be extended unless we reach the "upper tier" (I think that was the term?). I wonder if he got a bit of flack for suggesting that at that point because it made more sense to to have a public drop dead end date and try to get to the 3000 by that date (still, I think, a decent possibility based on a surge at the end).

But, I suspect they would extend it a couple of weeks if we are a couple hundred away from the goal. It just makes sense.

We'll see.

I think about a list or synths to take a pass on.

I think the string machine is not something that is to necessary. I don't think you need many (cheesy?) synthesized string sounds. My hardware synth probably takes care of this. (At the time, I think these were manufactured to try to emulate real strings). So, I think the String Box would be near the top two to take a pass on, if necessary.

So, my question is The Bully. For the most past, shouldn't almost everything be available on the other Moog synths? My impression is the big feature of these instruments was the physical pedal form (allowing Geddy Lee to keep his hands on his bass), but they were pretty much (somewhat low frequency-oriented) versions of Moog synthesizers which are taken care of by other Syntronik synths.(?)
I did get the Bully, and might have passed on it if I were to do it again. Hard to say, as I still haven't completely dove into what I've got or used any of the synths on a real project/song.

Here's what I've got on my potential PASS list...

Modulum - Modular Moog®, EMS® VCS3 and Alesis® Andromeda
SAM - Oberheim SEM
String Box- ARP, Elka, Hohner, and Roland string machines
T-03- Roland TB-303
VCF3- EMS® VCS3

String Box I'm passing on because I have the Toontrack String Machine EZX. I love that EZX for what it's worth though. Modulum seems like something I don't really want. I do all my drums in EZdrummer, so I'd rather pick up Electronic Edge EZX or something. The other three there, I just haven't been impressed with the demos. Not that I found them terrible, just, didn't thrill me like some of the others have. But I know very little about synths, so I could be very wrong about some of those!

For consideration of the Bully (Moog Taurus), take a look here:

Cherry Audio Unleashes Lowdown Bass Synthesizer
viewtopic.php?t=582218
Its colossal tone was an integral part of top acts of the 70s and 80s, including Rush, Yes, Genesis, U2, and The Police. And it was more than just a monosynth with pedals attached. It used a Hz/V oscillator scaling (instead of the more conventional volts/oct oscillator scaling), allowing the detuning amount to remain constant across the range by minimizing the phase cancellation of two oscillators playing simultaneously.

To create Cherry Audio's Lowdown, award-winning synth designer and DSP legend Mark Barton carefully analyzed the original's synthesis circuits and precisely modeled them to provide a massive virtual bass experience like no other. But we didn't stop at the sound! Lowdown's unique interface reproduces the experience with a lovingly rendered and animated foot pedal "keyboard" and the ability for users to select from 14 under-the-pedals floor surfaces. Over 40 outstanding presets and unlimited user preset storage are provided, and Lowdown supports full MIDI and DAW automation control.

Thanks for all the info.

Also, I am using these for live performance in cover bands. So, my needs are a bit different (probably more limited in most respects) than you guys.

The multis are quite nice and should be a draw, but note that we've also added over 100 NEW multis (well, Erik Norlander did) to Syntronik 2 MAX so there's a bit more of an incentive for those now.

Will those 100 new Multis also be included if the Group Buy hits 3k?

Yes. All multis available for Syntronik 2 MAX users will be available for participants after the group buy reaches the top tier, including these 100+ new multis.

quick question Peter, if we already own a couple of the libraries and the GB only reaches 30 for the price of one, will that qualify for the multi presets?

It won't matter what you already own, if you are a participant in the group buy and it reaches 3,000+ participants you'll gain access to the multis.

If someone wants a lesson in abject futility you can open a support ticket on the issue. I'm done with IK "Support".

When you loaded the Syntronik Multi into Sampletank 4 did you notice the midi channel assignments were incorrect? Here if I load a Syn 1 or 2 Multi in ST4, instead of all the layers being set to midi channel 1 (which is the way I set them because I want the instruments layered, not played on different tracks), the ST4 layer midi channels are set to 1,2,3,4, etc.

So yea you can load a Syntronik Multi into Sampletank 4 but it won't load correctly at least not here.
If you're brave, you could try editing the MIDI Channel lines in the Multi (they are. xml files). Or, change them in ST4 and Resave it?

My Syn2 Multis are stored in the default location: C:\DarkStar\Documents\IK Multimedia\Syntronik 2\Multis\Syntronik 2, but they are not listed in ST4. How can I get to them in ST4? (ST4 does see the Syn1 Multis (which are in the ST3 sounds library).

Conversely, it would be a good move if Syntronik 2 MAX owners got the 100 new Multis too.

PS Have you noticed, in the Syn2 (and Syn1) Amp Envelope the knob labelled "Velocity" has a dB value? It is a velocity-sensitivity control

I had to save the Syn2 multi that I had created, and then copy it into the ST4 Multis folder.

Oh yes I could load them, make the changes, and save them again but that's the end user having to find a workaround for a bug.

Same thing for the Syntronik 1 Multis that don't load properly in Syntronik 2. That's a bug. A bug that won't be fixed but a bug none the less.

I finally figured it out today....IK Instruments are like the Fiat sports car I used to own when I was a kid.

Fun to drive and great Italian styling but it spent more time in the shop than on the road.....

Anyway we hit another level so 28 for the price of 1. I think it gained 61 participants since this morning so 60 a day for the next 5 days would get us to a bit over 2800 give or take.
