I wonder how much overlap there is between users leaving winky posts about how superior apple is to pc and users complaining because apple has yet again done something to fook with their programs in grand fashion

I wonder how many Mac users don't give a sheeaat because they are satisfied with making music in Logic Pro X with stock plugins.

Chrome on MacOS is garbage. It will eat RAM, CPU and run slow on any OS.MilksterX wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 10:39 pm I've recently made the jump from Custom PC builds to an M1 Mac mini -minimum spec. I'm impressed with the performance of apple OS for audio in general compared to windows but the 8gb ram was a really bad choice that I instantly regretted. Soon as I hit Max ram and the UI starts to turn to a PowerPoint presentation. So annoying you cannot upgrade to a bigger chip they should have just made minimum spec 16GB UM. The OS these days plus a few chrome tabs eats enough memory. Kudos to the many devs who have already updated their plugins to support it. The only one that's annoyed me so far is D16 who I know are already way behind on updating their soft synths and must lose out on loads of potential profit from resales. I imagine having worked on updates and then having the M1 bomb dropped on them was probably their worst nightmare. The fact that their audio effects work natively is hopefully a good sign that they can do it and that they're simply trying to get their paid upgrades out the door asap along with some much anticipated updates to their synths.
It turns fans on faster than Logic on my M1.
shit about what? 99% of everything is native.Korg Supporter wrote: Mon May 09, 2022 4:31 am I wonder how many Mac users don't give a sheeaat because they are satisfied with making music in Logic Pro X with stock plugins.
100% of anything worthwhile is native.

Relab LX480 isn’t worthwhile?
T-RackS isn’t worthwhile?
ARC3 isn’t worthwhile?
Virtual Soundstage isn’t worthwhile?

PC. 100%. Every time.
I've lost track of the amount of times people with Macs have been left unable to upgrade the OS without losing access to paid for programs that no longer run on a new version of the OS. So much time, effort to work around these things.
I've lost a couple of things moving across versions on PC over the years, but so insignificant in comparison to users of Macs.
Oh, and also PC as in politically correct on a music forum. 100%. Why allow anything offensive at all when the topic is clearly just music.

Talking about "lazy" developers, Lennardigital has its "out time" phase again. Last update was more than 2 years ago, and people are "pressing" about a native M1 and VST3 version.
I sometimes wonder what such developers do for a living. It can't be audio plugin development.

Sylenth1 is a synthesizer that was released in 2007 with much less popularity now than in previous years. Can't imagine it's generating a lot of purchase revenue these days. Of course it's likely that the original developer has another day job. People have to move on to other projects/jobs to make a living.chk071 wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 10:21 am Talking about "lazy" developers, Lennardigital has its "out time" phase again. So while it's certainly OK to be disappointed that it hasn't been updated, I wouldn't call someone "lazy" for not doing so.

I would guess so. Can't imagine you can live 15 years of sales of a single plugin.cel4145 wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 4:19 pm Sylenth1 is a synthesizer that was released in 2007 with much less popularity now than in previous years. depends how many he sold, and if he invested wisely.chk071 wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 4:49 pmI would guess so. That's why I put lazy in quotation marks. Just wondering about these long out times. If you recall, there was a big out time as well, before he released a 64-bit AU version.cel4145 wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 4:19 pm So while it's certainly OK to be disappointed that it hasn't been updated, I wouldn't call someone "lazy" for not doing so.

That’s just because of all the spyware Google embeds in Chrome. Use Firefox instead.Ploki wrote: Mon May 09, 2022 7:50 am Chrome on MacOS is garbage. It will eat RAM, CPU and run slow on any OS.
