Each to their own but paying $24 to demo a product does not sound like a good option to me. A demo should be free not locked behind a paywall. Just my 2 cents anyway.
Pretty standard for sample library heavy instruments. Same for EastWest.

I see I didn't know that. Still not an option I consider good but as I stated before each to their own.

I returned my Falcon license for a full refund because the performance was rough. I feel bad for users who have to go through issues
That is all you hear?
Maybe you should get a life...

dionenoid wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 11:19 am So, i have a weird little issue with Falcon, latest version vst3 in Cubase 12 (win10). I hope the description is clear ;

When i select samples from the Falcon browser, normally i can use up/down arrow keys for selecting samples, which are then previewed/selected.
In the latest version i can only use the up/down arrow keys some 3 or 4 times, and then focus switches to my daw (changing channels in Cubase).

This didn't happen before. Neither does it happen with other synths/plugins that can use up/down arrow keys for selecting anything inside a plugin.

Can anyone conform this ? Or someone have a solution ?
Same thing happened to me when using Fl Studio. But the latest version 2.5.6 works fine. I had this same problem in earlier version which was never happened before.
Thanx. Yep, it seems i missed an update. Just updated to 2.5.6 and now it works as expected.

Weird thing was, the old UVI Central didn't see that i needed an update, so i had to update their installer app first. Yet the old app said i needed a Shade update, while the new app says i'm on the latest version. But anyway, all solved now.

I think this sets a bad precedent, to make people pay to demo a software instrument. I'd resist it. The lack of free demos has kept me away from both Falcon and Omnisphere. But if other people think a one-month subscription option to try software out is worth it, of course, that's their own decision.

You don't pay for a demo.
You pay for complete, unrestricted access to ALL of UVI's software (Falcon, FX, Libs, Instruments, expansions, everything), to use in your productions.

Some people might think the price for a one-month subscription is a convenient way to try Falcon, Shade, Sparkverb and everything else UVI offers.
But that is not a demo, is renting ALL that software for a month with full functionality, to use it in their commercial projects.

Free. Look at it as a 'light' version of Falcon.

I respect your opinion. But I think the distinction between renting something and demo-ing it is a bit superficial. The subscription option to try a product effectively amounts to paying for a demo. By contrast, Steinberg has allowed a free demo for Halion and its sample libraries, which led to my purchasing it, and Krotos offers free demos for their sample-heavy products. So does Kilohearts for Phase Plant. And so does Vengeance Sound for Avenger. I think I could readily find other examples.

I think I've looked at it before and came away thinking it was just a sampler without any samples to go with it. Is that really what Falcon is all about?

No, it's not in any way equivalent to Falcon, it's just a shell to host sample libraries that Falcon can also host.

No it doesn't.
It's not an option to try a product, it's a commercial license to use in production.

I respectfully disagree. In this day and age, with hardly anyone making much money off music, a "commercial" license doesn't have much meaning here. The company is charging money if you want to try using their product. That's the effective proposition. Otherwise, you can't try their product.

Well before this you couldn't try any of their paid products without purchasing them outright. Now you can pay a small amount and get a month to try out several grands worth of products in full. So, personally I think it's progress from the position before.

Again, I respectfully disagree. Offering a free demo is progress from the position before. Making us pay to try it is a step backwards.
