Host with preset blender

Is there a host that has a built in preset blender for effects and instruments? I have Fruity Loops, Sonar 3, Live 4, Tracktion and EnergyXT. I am not aware of such a beast in any of these. There is a preset hybridize function in FLS that I have tried but it does not really seem to allow a pair of presets to be blended in a directed fashion.
Best,
Gordon

Gordon, open eXT & load a VSTi of fx, whatever. In the VST wrapper, click on file>preset generator. You have every option you could want for randomizing, mutating, or blending presets, along with options to disable specific parameter functions individually.

You are kidding me! Man I am getting dumber by the second. I did not know that. I was waiting until I could print the Manual before studying it. I will go read up on it now.
Thanks so much!

then you'll get this:

Loading eXT into Mini-host & using's mini-host's midi tools in conjunction with eXT's preset generator is the fastest way I've come across making new presets.

EDIT: Nevermind.
God, I need to take my medication this morning.
I was also going to suggest Chainer. It has a nice "preset lab" and morpher.

THanks LBN. I have tried using this for quite a while now. It does work but I find it is too unpredictable for my tastes.

Very stable. It's not really neccessary, I just like having one click options for testing say an arp pattern or chord sequence, etc..And I don't need an external controller to drive it, you just use control + the onscreen keyboard to hold a note, etc..Beardedone wrote:Thanks Sickle! Very handy & quick, with a great interface.
You *could* just load a midi pattern in front of the VSTi you're setting presets for, but it'll be difficult distinguishing sounds between like a long evolving pad or a shorter note. That's why I prefer Mini-host in tandem with eXT.

I have an external controller so I guess I don't need it. I have very little free time to learn new stuff so I had better concentrate on eXT which has a ton of features for me to get used to.

why do you need to load eXT in mini host ?Sicklecell666 wrote:

Later,
can't you use the stand alone version ?
what are the midi tools ?
btw, Orion as a preset blender

Ok, since this needs to be explained to death, I might as well break it down to the quantum level.carrieres wrote: why do you need to load eXT in mini host ?

First, this is Mini-Host's midi tools window:

As you can see, in one window, you have several options for testing a sound, using a chord generator, a built in mini-sequencer that you can loop, an arp, & a midi gate.
Now..when you load eXT into Mini-Host, & use it's preset generator, you have several options:

Morph between two specific presets
Morph between two randomly selected presets
Breed, & crossfade in both ways
And finally, total random
You can also select exactly what parameters you want randomized, leaving out things that slow you down like volume that you do not want to randomize, etc.
Having an extrenal keyboard is great, but when your building a preset, you wanna focus on the sound more than anything as opposed to what you're playing, so in Mini-Host you can activate the computer keyboard to play your notes. This allows you to do your thing with the preset generator, then hit a note with your computer keyboard and quickly use one of the midi tools to test the preset in a given style of playing very rapidly..Faster & more target specific to any other host I have used.
And yes, I have known about Orion's preset generator since I bought an Orion license back in March. If I thought it would function better, I would have told him to use that instead of something he already has..
We done here?

Molecular Genetics eh? Thanks guys. I think I have maxed out my host budget for the year. Sorry no offense but I whenever I have demoed Orion it just made me appreciate FruityLoops even more than I already do.

You don't require a license for either eXT or Mini-Host to do the things I have explained, either. And it's nowhere near as complicated as you think it is; just try it out & you'll see.Beardedone wrote:Molecular Genetics eh? Thanks guys. I think I have maxed out my host budget for the year. Either way, good luck!

Thanks Sickle. Quantum level is exactly what I need. Iam just a dumb guitar player, remember.
And I appreciate you taking the to do all this -preparing the screenshots alone would kill me.
The keyboard guys always seemed like computer/rocket scintists to me. This thingy could really be a big help for me as I have yet to make a preset in all of my Synths or effects that is any better or more useable than is provided stock. Your method might do just get me somewhere.
