I respectfully disagree. In this day and age, with hardly anyone making much money off music, a "commercial" license doesn't have much meaning here. The company is charging money if you want to try using their product. That's the effective proposition. Otherwise, you can't try their product.

Complete BS. You keep projecting your twist on reality as an actual fact, freely assigning your own meaning to things like commercial licenses or demos.

You can rent the software for a month for commercial use. That's it.
If you choose to do that strictly to check the software, that's your business.
Just like before, there is no demo, only commercial licenses.

It's like leasing a car or paying for time in a well equipped studio. If you go in with your eyes open it can be a good deal if it fits your needs, but this is just wandering off from the point that you can now pay a small amount to try out all the UVI range, something you could never do before.

You're sugar-coating a new bad deal offered by a company that refuses to demo their products for free, unlike most other companies that do offer free demos. Car companies let you try their cars for free.Then you can decide whether to buy the car. Leasing has always been a bad deal. And the only reason to use a studio anymore is to get access to a quiet room if you can't access one any other way. You can take your computer, microphones, and audio interface nearly anywhere and make great music, as long as the room is quiet enough when using the mics.

We sometime forget but network traffic is not free in the world. Server cost isn't that cheap to provide hundreds gigabytes library. I don't want to imagine thousands people downloading Vintage Vault 4 at the same time to try demo

Are you guys talking about the UVI subscription? I think it's a nice addtion to their status quo. It accommodates people that prefer a subscription and now there is a way to try out products before buying, even if it means paying a fee for a month of access to everything. I can choose not to pay for a month of sub and I am back to UVI the way it was which was fine. I can work around not having a demo. No biggie.
