Density Plugin

AAX, AU and VST

Density is an audio effect plugin that creates various layers of sounds based on the input. With great results in stereo and fantastic ones in immersive, this plugin allows artists to create incredible sounding ensembles based on a solo input and get incredible spatialization.

Not the right time for me to buy, but will definitely check it out in the future.
For the "crowd/swarm" effect I use MUnison but I still have to try this because SoundParticles really specializes in this kind of stuff.

Kind of a niche effect; yet with Sound Particles involved indeed very worth to check out.

It seems like a tailored real-time version of the full Sound Particles. Since I own that was kinda hoping for a discount - ah well.

Some of the demos are impressive, some less so. The solo violin in the video doesn’t sound good at all imo, it’s too dynamic which all the fake instruments slavishly follow, sounding very weird. But other examples are much better, it’s clearly going to be very material dependent. Might try the demo at some stage.

It's a granular processor but very fine-tuned as an ensemble effect. I found it difficult to get close to what it's doing with other granular fx like Silo and Fragments.

The different output options (Blumlein, XY, binaural, surround, etc.) are a great feature.

They've got some interesting stuff going on under the hood here. Would be nice to have deeper access but I guess their focus was on limiting the controls and available settings so that it's hard to make it sound bad.

Not really, you can use it to add unison to anything and the results can be anything from normal sounding unison to some kind of mega-unison like you've never heard before. It's something you can use all the time, if your CPU can handle it.

I saw this when it came out and then kind of forgot about it, until I saw it on Plugin Boutique for half price the other day. I dithered over it but finally pulled the trigger today. I've been playing with it for an hour or so now and I am really loving it. It can be a massive CPU killer - some of the presets use as much as bx_oberhausen with 32 voice unison - but, like unison on most synths, if you turn down the number of voices you can get it under control easily without noticeably affecting the sound.

It can make SEM sound as big as bx_oberhausen, probably even bigger. It can sound smooth and clean or very, very dirty (not always in a good way, though). It seems, at this early stage, that I will find quite a bit of use for it, from thickening up monosynths to interesting vocal effects, with a few creative uses in between. It feels like good value for $60.

You suggested it was a niche effect but I think it has a lot of uses. Like a delay or reverb, I reckon I'll be using this on drums, on instrument parts, on vocals and maybe even on entire mixes.
